It's weird because the opening post says "Officers said the doors to the 2020 Toyota RAV-4 he was driving were locked".

Hopefully green5513 can clear that up for us.

ETA: Not sure of the colour of the 2020 Rav-4, but the basic car bodies look very similar:

The Toyota Highlander was JW's car but it was in the shop the day of his disappearance. The RAV 4 was a rental and the car he was driving / the vehicle his body was found in. During the missing person report, the family initially mentioned the TH by mistake instead of the rental RAV 4 he was actually in.

I personally wonder if there is any correlation between him being in / passing in a rental car. Maybe tags on the car indicated that it was a rental so he was a target for robbery? Please note no information has been given to prove or suggest that this was a robbery, other than the multiple unauthorized ATM transactions between 12am and 1am 08/04/2021.

Were John's phone and/or the computer found in the vehicle?

His daughter says he told her that he was going to take her laptop to a nearby store to get fixed, but did not say exactly where. He texted her just after 7 p.m. to tell her he had dropped it off. That was the last time his family heard from him.

There were also several charges on their credit card statement without addresses that were made after he spoke to his family.''

His phone was found in the possession of a homeless individual and the computer was dropped off at a shop for fixing. When questioned the homeless individual says they had just found the phone.

Used to be able to tell rental cars by tags but due to criminal activity they no longer have identifiable license plates.
You can tell a rental by the bar code sticker that is on the upper right part of the car windows. Also by the white warning stickers on windows stating fine for smoking in rental car.
Many have the box like transponder in the rear view mirror area of the windshield.

I believe it is a public record. However, in this situation, the investigation is ongoing so the cause of death is not even known by the family.

1.) natural causes
2.) suicide
3.) accident/misadventure, or
4.) homicide/murder

The fact that he was found in the passenger seat of his loaner, and that APD is seeking to identify two possible persons of interest who were seen on cctv “interacting” with his car, suggests to me that it was either #3 or #4.

Why did APD first respond to the Shell Station (was his phone located there? was there a cc transaction? was he seen on cctv?). Have there been any transactions on JW’s credit cards since he went missing? Why was the car moved from Wendy’s to DQ? Was JW even in the car when it was at Wendy’s? (I suspect not).

Very frustrating that there’s not more info available from LE and MSM. Prayers for JW’s family that they get answers soon.

As a verified insider I can confirm that there was 'no visible trauma to the body'.

The 2 POI in the cctv footage have been arrested (late August) and are in jail awaiting arraignment but I do not know the charges, identifications, etc. Wondering if APD has those arrest records public? I have yet to find anything while searching online. Also, another individual is wanted/being sought out by APD in regard to this case.

Here are some answers/insight I can offer to these questions:

• JW did make a cc transaction at the gas station in the early evening of 8/3/2021.
• It is unknown (by me) when his phone was separated from him, but it was found in the possession of a homeless individual that had found it.
• Multiple transactions occurred in the late hours of 8/3/2021 withdrawing unusually large sums of cash from his bank account. APD has footage from the ATMs & locations of these transactions but details are withheld.
• I do not know why the car was parked and then moved an hour later to the DQ, but this along with him being found in the passenger seat has me very confused. He was found with his ID and the car was locked. CC & phone not located in the car and keys were confirmed to have been taken by the people who parked it.
• I had not considered the idea that maybe he was not in the car when it was moved, but that is an interesting thought/possibility. Seems unlikely and I think he was dead in the car the whole time it was parked. But why would they come back to the scene?

It is frustrating that there is no more information from LE and MSM. Hopefully this is being worked on thoroughly and information will come out soon.

I'm sorry about what happened to your loved one. Could the toxicology results be the reason law enforcement is not returning calls? If so, I would expect that a skilled undercover private investigator could identify the men from the parking lot using info from John's phone.
