They do, however, have an extra tire, which is clearly seen in the photograph of the two kids being shown on CNN. I'm thinking that safety wasn't the first concern of these parents.

Im confused...why would having an extra tire mean they werent concerned?

Oh, I don't know. Just seems to me that rusty metal is a danger to kids. Pops right out at me. They're always climbing on things, getting scrapes and cuts. Just one more obsticle and threat to their safety.

Also, there's that burn on the girl's head and the fact that the kids were enabled to "walk away" from their home (uh, right). Seems it's pretty obvious safety isn't foremost in their minds.

Damn. I've got to go to work. Carry on.

They need to do a thorough dragging of that lake (that's no pond). If it were my children I would be out there in the water covering every inch of it. I wouldn't need to wait for a rescue team to do the job.

Well, then I must not care about mine either, as there have been times where we have had old tires in our yard, as well as other things. We have made trips to the ER for stepping on rusty nails, dropping a glass bottle of coke and having the glass fly into a leg, etc.

If you look closely at that photo I believe it is a tire in the bed of a truck...looks like the picture was taken with them sitting on the tailgate of a truck bed...it doesn't look like some tire just laying around...and if it did I don't believe that is means to judge someones parental abilities.

I don't think the tire or hairbow has anything to do with them being good or bad parents.
I have to agree this doesn't look good, I will not cast judgement upon them until I hear from LE they/he/she have been arrested.

Hairbow?? What would someone think a hairbow has to do with it?

I recall people being so suspicious over Mark Lunsford because of the way he looked and the bikers he knew etc...just goes to show you can't judge a book because Mark Lunsford is one of the finest people I believe I have ever met.

Some people think that because the mom had a red bow in her hair this morning at the press conference it means she is not concerned about her kids and is more worried about her appearance. She's being compared to Susan Smith (who drowned her kids) - she frequently wore a bow in her hair and had her hair done for TV.

From watching the press conference, it certainly does not appear to me that this woman is thinking only of her appearance. The bow seemed to just be slapped on her hair, her hair didn't even look combed. I wouldn't be surprised if a friend or relative just stuck the bow in her hair just before the conference, just to feel like they were "helping". she certainly did not look to be primping for the cameras.

Thanks...from what I saw she was sobbing uncontrollably and I agree..she had anything but primped. And so what if she has a hairbow in? Did anyone see how Ruth Lunsford was dressed when she did a press conference about the lie detector? In her Sunday best! Does that make her guilty? In her case we know she wasn't.

I am new to posting here but have lurked for quite some time now. All you people are great and I value your opinions highly.
This was the time I had to post.
We have always had Harleys (i.e. ride bikes) and we also raise horses. We too have tires in one of the arenas for training purposes. Since we live on a ranch there are also "ranch tools, barbed wire, etc". Our children have never been injured by playing in/on a tire or around the ranch except for the normal things (rusty nail, scrapes, etc.) and if they had been....it's all part of growing up. They are now adults and indeed have survived thus far.
As well, Harley riders, (bikers), do not mean the riders are bad parents. Our children were/are worshipped and have had many "priviledges" (private school, cruises, etc.).
How I miss when I was a kid getting to play around all these kinds of things.

Did any notice that when the Sherriff was talking in the NC he said the Mother said she came out of bathroom found front door open walked outside and found the gate unlocked and opened. Didn't the father say that the gate was locked that is how he knows they didn't wonder off...I thought I read that soemwhere.....I will try to find it. Just wondering if anyone else noticed that also.

I am sorry but I am  :furious: ANGRY........why is only LE searcing right now?? And if they are how come they all this time to be doing terviews and NC etc....if LE are the only ones searching at this time in my opionion they are not doing a very good job. I was very very suprised when they said at the NC no only LE is and will be conducting the search efforts at this time. I prya these two little ones are safe and just wonder off and out lost.

Wonder what they were using the hair removal for in the home ?? I have never had enough hair, personally!!
The typical thing is that women use it for removal of leg hair. You smear it on and a short time later, you rinse it off along with the hair.

Babies have very sensitive skin. It could be that the little girl got into it, rubbed it on herself, and then the mom smelled it, (it smells AWFUL, and very strong). Maybe Mom took her to the doctor or called Poison Control, and they told her to wash her hair well, and not to be alarmed; that she might end up with a burn to the skin or that the hair might fall out over time, and not to worry ... it will grow back. So perhaps she hadn't lost any hair but it is a possibility that she still might.

I'm not sure if it was the sherrif or who the official was but someone said they were doing a "forensic" search today, which to me means they are looking as much for evidence as for the kids. I don't like the sound of that at all.

I think they are looking for bodies at this point. LE only searches are for bodies. jmo

I wouldn't care if she came out looking like Miss America. Maybe fixing her hair or applying her make-up gives her a few minutes of distraction. Not that she can forget, but to get five minutes to soften the focus on her pain.

I heard that too and I agree I dont like sound of that either. This whole things is just sad sad.

I found it a littel odd/strange that they set up for the NC rigth in front of the Lake/Pond.......something tells me they need to be lookin gin there with divers.

I can soo see two little young ones toddling off out the door while mom is in the bathroom and heading to the water to "explore" and in an instant they both could have fallen in and drown. We had two younger boys here in MN that a few years ago one fell in the other went in to help and they both drown, there parents were devastated it was very very sad.

I'm sorry. Did the father say when the kids went outside, they "knew their limits"?????

I also noticed that but for now, I chalk it up to either hasty reporting or confusion of the facts during the frantic early moments of the realization that one's children are missing.

Hmmm....I don't know but now that you say that I remember reading something somewhere.........I will seacrch fro that also.

I was just sitting here thinking about the mom and said she was only in the bathroom for 2-5 minutes.......but what "if" she was inside and had laid down or was wacthing TV etc and had fallen asleep I mean it happens and mean while the two started to wonder off. I just find it hard to beleive in such a rural area that in 2-5 minutes they would be gone with out a trace so quickly.
