I could see Ryan acting out after moving from up east to podunk, Georgia. That's quite a change, and factor in being a teen....

His mom is from VA, so I'm guessing he went back for a bit to live with someone on her side of the family, but then he came back to GA and apparently lived at home after he graduated high school. So, perhaps life wasn't too bad at home after all.

This is such a strange case...so violent and brutal. And it apparently came out of nowhere...

I'm not so sure that he ever graduated high school. He talked about finishing his education in a FB conversation with his sister on Nov 27. I believe he is talking about getting his GED:
"Ryan Brunn: but look what im doin now moved out got a new job n bout to finish skool i think im doin pretty damn well while every1 is still home wit mama bye C im not gonna fight over dumb **** on FB!! November 27 at 11:31am"

I think he is purposely typing like he doesn't know how to spell to annoy his sister and sound "cool" within his social network.

I also wouldn't lie to LE and tell them I was at Walmart when Jorelys went missing, when I really wasn't at Walmart. Unless I had a cloak of invisibility somewhere and the cameras didn't pick me up...

I don't understand why he would say this either? I mean, even if you were going to lie, don't choose a place like Walmart that has cameras everywhere. If you're going to lie, doesn't it occur to you to choose a place where you know they don't have cameras? Did he really think the cops wouldn't check it out??

Yeah, Dahlonega is really pretty--North Georgia mountains. There's a B&B up there we like to go to from time to time.

For those not familiar, it's a small town in North Georgia, 55 miles north of Canton, I believe (about 1 and 45 minutes from downtown Atlanta.) It's an old gold mining town so now it's touristy. There's a cute little original town square with kitchy tourist shops and Bed and Breakfasts. There's a military college there too. But other than that ... no mall, no nightlife really, no big movie theater. If you were used to something bigger/more city like, and were a teen, you might think this move sucked golfballs.

I was thinking the same thing... Dahlonega is beautiful. I graduated from North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega and my daughter actually hopes to get in there next year... But for the typical 20 something young person, I can see how that would not be a great move.

I suppose that could be the case. Our Walmart has 2 huge tvs suspended that when you walk in the doors, you see yourself on the tv. Rather than lying, he would have been better of saying he was at home.

Someone posted on SP's (brother) wall that there are a lot of people who believe they rushed the arrest and Ryan is innocent.

Seems like a lot of people will be shocked when the results are shown.

Does anyone know if RB is allowed to contact family in jail?

I'm pretty sure they have a phone available to the inmates for collect calls as well as visiting hours. They can also send him mail (after it has been opened, read and inspected).

GBI agents began working with the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office soon after Riveria's abduction as they interviewed local family members of Brunn and surveilled different areas throughout the county.

Bankhead said the investigation will be ongoing.

"We do have agents working with the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office and others to follow up on his background and anything that could be useful," he said.

One of Ryan's brothers said 4 or 5 other maintenance men, I think that was just a wild guess.

His roommate worked in a marble yard, not for the complex.

Since everyone has access to the garbage bin and LE arrested RB based on tips they received from people at the apartment complex, I'm not convinced Ryan Brunn is guilty so I'm anxious to hear what forensic tests reveal.

ClairNC, I think his mom lives there in VA as well.

As far as girlfriend/no girlfriend, plenty of killers have had girlfriends or been married (BTK killer)

Shelby, According to her FB page, his mother KAHW Lives in Dahlonega, Georgia and is from Flushing, New York I don't see a Virginia connection there.

I never mentioned anything about girlfriends so you might have been responding to somebody else.

I feel the same way. I want to believe that they got the monster off the streets, but I'm not yet convinced this is him. Anxiously awaiting forensic test results.

I'm not really interested in this young man's history or what his family has to say. But the above article says he only has a 10th grade level education. Also gives description of duct tape and plastic ties used on her body.

I'm just trying to get caught up on this stage of the process. I think I read where he has 2 court appointed attn's? Or is that incorrect? This was his first arraignment today, did he plead?

I don't think they can arrest anyone exclusively on tips. I'm pretty sure they had to have some sort of evidence to show the DA and the judge. :waitasec:

I think they started watching him closely based on the tips. :seeya:
