So they don't even have enough yet, and probably won't by Monday, to convince a Grand Jury to file charges?

um.

Just sayin'.

I wouldn't say that they don't have enough... I would say more like they have to get all the forensics back... this has all happened very quickly:twocents:

Is it that they don't have enough, or that the grand jury will be hearing this once and they need enough evidence for all charges they are pressing? (I'm new to indicting!)

Thank you Belimom! I have not had time to research the family other than getting a copy of Ryan's FB page before it was taken down. So Ryan was born in 1991, IIRC, and Mom lived in Virginia in the mid-1990's to 2002, maybe that was when Mom and Dad were still together.

It seems like he has 3 brothers and one sister? Is he the third child? Fourth? Fifth? The sister(C) and one brother (SPB) definitely seem older. Are the other two brothers younger or older?

The one that spoke out in one of the videos posted here (CLB), definitely seemed like a teenager rather than over 20.

I don't know for sure, but it seems to be that the sister and SPB are older, and CLB and SB are younger...? I'm just guessing, though, from their photos, comments, etc.

Right. Very quickly. LE is in a tough balancing act here - I do get that. I think they have a very strong hunch, and will know more once they actually get the evidence processed - and I do understand how panicked the public was becoming. All that, IMHO, has led them to act more quickly than LE usually does.

I sense they're heavily betting he's the one, but they don't "KNOW know" as they say.

I'll tell you what I see now.He does not seem cocky. He looks away from the camera. His head is down in the court room.Quiet.I see nothing to point to a vicious killer on his face book page. His family does not talk bad of him.He I feel appears to be passive agressive maybe? Two personalities?Looking away from the camera, head down shows me signs of guilt or very passive.I don't know what to think. Not the killer I expected to see.Very confusing.

To be honest with you Suzanne, after following crime avidly for years and years (odd hobby I know, I hear it from my family :)) And having met and known a murderer through aquaintence I can't, personally, observe someone and tell what kind of person they are or whether or not they are capable.

I watched the clip above of him in court where he is biting his lip and looking around and my thought on that is ---if I was arrested and did my perp walk with LE standing at guard with live ammo until I got into the squad car, and had to wear a bullet proof vest while sitting in court.

I would be watching my back and be very nervous too.

But that's just the way I'm looking at things. I can't tell if this young man is guilty or not. I want to hear the evidence against him before I decide. JMHO

Is it a fact that RB was adopted? Sorry if this has been asked and answered earlier.

Shelby, According to her FB page, his mother KAHW Lives in Dahlonega, Georgia and is from Flushing, New York I don't see a Virginia connection there.

I never mentioned anything about girlfriends so you might have been responding to somebody else.

The quote feature works great to keep track of responses to your posts.

LOL yes I know but the quote feature does not always work on this iTouch!
Per what I have read, mom did once live in VA.

That's what media has been reporting

It has been reported in mainstream news that he and the other 20 yr old brother were both adopted as infants. IIRC

From that link the Judge or an Attorney is saying something about the defendant making false statements.

Reading of the warrants for arrest. 1. Murder 2. false statements.

So today was just a reading of the warrants. Got it now. Thanks CP!

I could see Ryan acting out after moving from up east to podunk, Georgia. That's quite a change, and factor in being a teen....

His mom is from VA, so I'm guessing he went back for a bit to live with someone on her side of the family, but then he came back to GA and apparently lived at home after he graduated high school. So, perhaps life wasn't too bad at home after all.

This is such a strange case...so violent and brutal. And it apparently came out of nowhere...

BBM I love Georgia :seeya:

Respectfully, I don't think a judge signs a warrant for an arrest based upon LE's hunch that someone did it. As far as acting quickly, what is wrong with that? They worked hard and were able to make a swift arrest with probable cause. Now they are working on gathering all the evidence for trial. MOO

I think mom's lived in quite a few different places.

I agree, not sure what to think. He looks very scared to me. He obviously knows people want to kill him. Maybe he is looking around to make sure no one is aiming a gun....That seems normal in that situation. :waitasec:

FWIW I served on a GJ in Alabama and it may be different in Georgia but we met for 2 wks and all the cases we were to hear filled the docket. There is no way they could fit another case into the time frame we had and anything else would have been scheduled for the next GJ.

BBM.

ITA. I think they are basing their hunch on 1) he lied about his alibi and asked others to lie for him, 2) he had opportunity and access, and 3) he recently mentioned the vacant apartments which just so happen to turn into the crime scene.

I find myself really torn on this one. It could be bad luck (in the wrong place at the wrong time), or a naive kid being set up as scapegoat. He just seems too nervous to be the killer, not enough of a hard edge. But so far the evidence doesn't look good for RB. We'll have to wait and see what tale the forensics tell us.

http://www.ajc.com/news/canton-murder-suspect-has-1254733.html

I'm not really interested in this young man's history or what his family has to say. But the above article says he only has a 10th grade level education. Also gives description of duct tape and plastic ties used on her body.

I'm just trying to get caught up on this stage of the process. I think I read where he has 2 court appointed attn's? Or is that incorrect? This was his first arraignment today, did he plead?

Thanks in advance for response!

Yes, RB has 2 court appointed attorneys and he said "yes" when the male Judge asked if he was satisfied with his counsellors and aware of his rights.

Mike Brooks was in the courtroom and said Ryan spoke loud and clear in response to the Judge's questions whereas some of the reporters said he spoke quietly; however Mike said he was sitting close to the accused so perhaps this is why he could hear Ryan better than the reporters sitting further back.

I watched Ryan during this proceeding and imo his head was not hung down - he looked alert and only looked behind him once to see who was in the courtroom.

No family members of Ryan's attended the hearing but there were quite a few people there.

Today was Ryan's first court appearance and his arraignment according to one article will be in January while another article said his next court appearance is next week.

Ryan will enter a plea at his arraignment.

He was denied bond and will be in solitary confinement or segregated from the other inmates. HTH
