<modsnip> I will add this imo of who could do such a thing:

Someone totally jacked up on something

Under the influence of a drug that gives a person irrational thoughts, strength and energy.

The audacity, the apparent speed of the undertaking seems drug fueled, cocaine, meth…

Would a random do the cuts around the tattoo?

They would have to uncover it and then notice it in the dark/ darkish light.

<modsnip>

All imo

I think that stabbing someone to death with few stab wounds, differs greatly from stabbing someone 40-50 times and mutilating the victim's body. JMO

I there a Media/Timeline thread for this case? I can't find one. I'm specifically looking for a timeline.

Thanks!

Moo The dog. They must know a bit about dog behaviour i think. I worked as a vet tech, so i have knife and dog control skills. It would be difficult to dispatch the dog quickly and quietly. Moo

This was a pit bull, someone had balls to do this.

I don't think there is. It would be really helpful, though.

A timeline would be really helpful! I have followed this case from the start and I don't even have a good sense of the timeline or any discrepancies.

Or was already personally familiar with the dog. Nearly no one in a stable, healthy mindset would attack someone out of the blue walking a potentially dangerous breed of dog. Especially someone who was looking to sexually assault someone. This was either a mentally unstable person experiencing psychosis or someone who knew her and the dog personally. Statistically speaking, this was almost absolutely someone who knew her. Overkill, stabbed , and branded. The rest was an attempt at staging. I highly doubt this was a random attack, serial killer, gang initiation, etc. Someone knew her routine, knew the dog, and felt a perceived wrong doing. Absolutely personal IMO.

Moo... pitties are short ..you do not want to try to control them face on because they will come up at your face and throat as you bend over. So you control from behind. I work at kennels and dog daycare now. The little darlings do not always get along, so control is important. Moo

Moo. Dog control .......from behind grab collar and twist so dog in choke hold ...lift front legs off ground, dog has no leverage. Now you have control....unless it is really big :)

I think a stranger attacked her, he was waiting in the park and she was targeted simply because she was a female. The killer is male.

A sadistic killer who hates women and not under the influence of any substances (the precision of the cutting makes me think no drugs). Just pure adrenaline and hate.

Also I think it would be easy to kill a dog with a large sharp knife. :(

A sexual sadist? Male or female?
Does anyone know or remember what kind of tattoo was on KJ's back?

‘She Was Still Alive’: Forensics Expert Says Disturbed Piedmont Park Killer Tortured Victim Alive Before Killing Her
''This murderer took extra time, unnecessary time with the victim. According to adjunct professor of forensic psychology, Stephanie Scott-Snyder, there are “Obvious signs of overkill with sexual targeting and mutilation which is common in attacks committed by (sexual) sadists.

These killers are motivated by their victim’s pain; That’s what excites them.”

''Katie had injuries in numerous places but in addition to the craved letters, the wounds to her breast, lower back at her tattoo, and face seem particularly targeted. ''

I can't imagine what it would take to put down a dog this size and breed. I wonder if the dog got in any bites during the attack?

Good question about the tattoo. A name? Subject matter? Circumstances it was done under? (A gift? After a breakup? An anniversary?)

I'm neither here nor there in regards to who this killer is and what occupation the killer had, but with the recent kitchen worker theme including knives and places of employment, I did have a kind of Scooby-Doo thought. Maybe the killer had some steak in pocket. Something to get in good with Bowie before an attack? Ridiculous idea, I know...

If not for Bowie, I would agree with you. From the beginning, Bowie's presence has made me all but rule out the possibility of a random attack, IMO.

That's what stands out to me also.We saw that many people were out that night so if it's random why not pick out an easier target?Even with a knife a large dog has a chance to overpower you.

Piquerism? Does this apply?

As part of a wider research project into paraphilic disorders and homicide, a case is presented of a piquerist who achieved sexual satisfaction through the infliction of stabbing wounds. Against a background of sexual domination with willing and unwilling sexual partners, the offender stabbed four men to death. A study of the resulting autopsy reports, in association with the offender's testimony and crime scene documentation, was undertaken to discern a piquerist crime scene signature. An excessive number of stabbing wounds, the targeting of sexual areas, and a variation in wound size and depth were found to be evidence of piquerism. Although there was opportunity to commit a sexual assault upon victims, the preference was to penetrate them with a knife. It is contended that, even without any evidence of sexual assault at a crime scene, a knife wound analysis can reveal a sexual motivation in some cases of homicide.

Posting again...the metal box that I believe is the electrical box that controls the cameras or the street lamps in that part of the park. IMO.
This is a still of the 1st known local news report of the murder from 11alive news.

Very interesting. If my interpretation of the autopsy is correct (not sure it is) the FAT was carved in Katie upside down. This "S,L,U,T" also upside down. A connection? Perhaps.

Because she was female and alone.
