GA - Katherine Janness, 40, fatally stabbed and dog killed, Piedmont Park, Atlanta, 28 July 2021 #2

I've think the FBI is likely involved to profile this killer. One of the general things LE said for people to watch for and report on, besides extremity injuries and change in appearance, is someone who has an intense interest in the case. We hear this all the time.

But, if the profile includes an intense response for the killer, maybe a reliving, of sorts, through media coverage like LE pressers, etc, then perhaps the lack of details released is purposeful. Maybe LE has already released the information they think might be helpful for the public to know, but any more would only feed the killer. IDK...

Here's hoping they have already identified them through cellphone, video surveillance and witness statements and they are trailing and watching like hawks while they continue to gather evidence for a conviction.
For all we know a suspect could already be detained on other charges and under interrogation.
LE has no reason or obligation to tell us anything before they have enough evidence to convict and then make an arrest on murder charges.

I hope and pray that they have him or get him soon. This gives me hope. I am terrified to walk my dog or go anywhere. I know it's not healthy to live in fear but this is too close to home.

Yes!!! Especially justice for Katie and Bowie. She appeared to be such a kind soul who loved animals and cared about humanity. It is just so heartwrenchingly sad!

So we know LE did speak to the jogger, but do we know if any of the other witnesses in the camera footage have come forward and talked to LE?

She said in an interview that she's left the neighborhood and has no plans to go back.

And if one single, intentional and finishing cut, wouldn’t they have had to have access to an extremely, extremely sharp knife to make that happen?

Katie would have defensive wounds if the slash was a finishing blow. And the perp would more likely have a few wounds on their hands, too. Definitely a very sharp knife, perhaps a filleting knife like someone mentioned on the previous thread.

-Katie would have passed the fire station but not where she works (which is south on Piedmont).
- I don't think we can be certain of the 12:35/12:57-1:10 timeline you have.
-It was PETA not ASPCA that added 10k.

The 12:35 time I used from an interview w/11 alive news. Emma stated she got off work about an hour after Katie & Bowie came by the restaurant.
The 12:57 time I used was taken from Emma's father who stated this time twice. I can't remember if it was the 1st interview w/11 alive news or at the vigil at the entrance to the park.
The restaurant Katie works at is South on Piedmont but there is a driveway to rear parking for it at 181 10th St.
The 1:10 time was stamped on the original 911 audio released to the public.

I’m not sure if I can post the link? Don’t know if it is within the rules? But there is a journalist on Twitter who posted a pic of police putting a large tree limb in a police van. That’s where I saw it.

The tree branch was taken by LE the Saturday after the murders when LE did another sweep of the park. We can't assume the branch was laying on the ground as some have speculated. I haven't heard anymore about it either.

Why he killed the dog is the only thing I'm trying to understand right now.
Power/Control seems the most likely to me.

I would bet everything I have that Bowie was trying to protect Katherine, so the killer lashed out at him with the knife to protect himself.
