I am moving toward the camp that says they don't have an idea. The rumor was that some at least partial DNA was retrieved from Bowie. If they had a person of interest, they would have been able to obtain a DNA sample in one way or another. Maybe we are in a "we are waiting for dna technology to evolve enough to identify the killer" stage. But nearly 4 years have gone by with a person on the loose that committed one of the most horrific and violent murders we have seen. And did it in a public space. I don't know what to think.

I have pondered this myself. I think they have a secondary location somewhere away from her body but still inside the park where they may have found drops of blood, bloody handprints, bloody footprints, an attempt to clean up, a place of concealment? Somewhere close enough where the scene of the crime was still in eyeshot or earshot.

There is a type of water runoff/ stormwater sewer system in the park, with manhole covers. I’ve been to Piedmont park countless times as an Atlanta native and resident my whole life. On more than one occasion I’ve come across one of these manhole covers open inside the park (last time was close to the playground about 2 years ago). Looking inside there’s a ladder to climb down and drainage pipes that go across the park underground. I’ve wondered if this person could have quickly escaped through one of these

I can’t stress enough how unbelievably brazen the killer was to pick that particular location. It’s legit right near a major road that even on a weeknight (iirc Tuesday/Wednesday night?!) is still very busy with people…even at that hour. And despite the park being technically closed, folks are all about, in and around it. The people shown on camera crossing 10th likely walked right by her and didn’t know it. The runner likely ran by Katie—it seems logistically impossible for him not to have. To this day I wonder what runner-guy thinks about all this. Also, WTF-Guy! If I came upon that scene, I’d probably be in therapy for the rest of my life. Where are these people? Why hasn’t the media interviewed them?

I think it is likely he saw SOMETHING. But I am guess what he saw was Bowie. I believe he was on 50' inside the gate and in plain sight. But we don't know. I'd love to know what he saw.

your comment was very interesting to me and made me go back to some old posts in the initial threads. fwiw, the runner is seen exiting the park at 12:46:54 AM—the same entrance where Emma entered and found KJ and Bowie 50 ft away.. Just 41 seconds earlier, at 12:46:13 AM, he’s photographed running down 10th Street in the bike lane, parallel to the park. That quick shift—from moving past the park to emerging from within it—makes me sure he saw something that sketched him out he got outta there. imo it might have been Bowie in direct visible sight?

The Atlanta Peachtree Rd race is the largest and most popular 10k in the world (feel free to look it up) and I knew the person I suspected would run it due to being a serious runner. I found someone who looks EXACTLY like Bryan Kohberger in the Peachtree Rd Race on 7/4/21. He was wearing black shorts, black running shoes with white soles (important) and blue shirt, similar attire as the runner seen on camera wearing a headlamp who was running in and out of the park the night she was killed, wearing a headlamp. He only stayed approx 12 secs each time he ran through the main gate. That runner was also wearing black running shoes with white soles. The person who looks exactly like BK has a white baseball cap pulled down over his eyebrows and wearing earbuds. He can be seen at the 50:20 mark at the end of Peachtree. His voice is also on the 911 call as he pretends to stumble upon Katie's body & yells "WTF" and has a brief interaction with Emma. He does NOT stick around to console her and he did not come forward when APD requested. I have sent this info to Atlanta PD & FBI. (video).

You can look up past race results and unless he ran under a fake name, he was not a participant.

“With a case this unusual, you would think there would be a similar transaction somewhere,” said crime scene investigator Sheryl “Mac” McCollum. “They don’t have another case where there’s been a homicide, where the person has been stabbed 50 times, where letters have been carved in them, and there’s the mutilation on top of an animal being harmed.”

It is not one of McCollum’s cases, but she said she has been keeping up with the developments.
“Bowie had to be the first victim,” she said. “Whatever that first interchange was, that killer grabbed that dog and killed him. I believe with a straight edge weapon, because that’s what he had with him.”
Joe Clark, the father of Katie’s partner Emma, said it has been 18 months since he talked to anyone at Atlanta police, and it appears the case has turned cold.

“They did put more cameras out there,” Clark said. “I’ve been by there. The lighting seems to be better. And I think people are definitely, I know they’re aware. That neighborhood’s very aware of that incident.”

“With a case this unusual, you would think there would be a similar transaction somewhere,” said crime scene investigator Sheryl “Mac” McCollum. “They don’t have another case where there’s been a homicide, where the person has been stabbed 50 times, where letters have been carved in them, and there’s the mutilation on top of an animal being harmed.”

With my whole respect for the investigator, we do know such violent murderers escalate and evolve. I wouldn't be surprised if Katie wasn't his first victim but it absolutely does not mean the previous crimes have to contain all the elements we see here.

So, there might be no slaughtered pet, no mutilations and no carved letters, there might be no exact same amount of wounds. What they should look for in my humble opinion? Knife murders
with multiple stab wounds, way more than you need to kill someone, especially the cases with any deliberate stabs done after victim died. The murders and assaults done in parks, woods, walking paths, every place where you have people walking, but desolate enough for a murderer.

Also, considering that an animal was one of the victims here, I would have a good long look at the cases of animal killings and mutilation. There is, IMO, a possibility, the perpetrator started with torturing and killing animals, but it was not enough so he moved on to human victims.

Is it possible that the killer was just passing through(and so there wouldn't be other victims in that particular area) Like literally, they were only in town for a few days and left immediately after?

I can't remember if the FBI was involved -- they would be involved if LE surmised that the killer might not from the area, right? It was just so brazen -- yet, they haven't been found yet, so maybe they were either incredibly lucky or very skilled at moving without being detected.

Agree- four years later and we still don’t know what the headlamp jogger saw, or anything about the WTF guy. So little info released or confirmed by APD. No cell phone records from Katie or her timetime that day. Only the rainbow crosswalk photo. Because I don’t believe in coincidences, I’m still in the camp that the killer knew Katie well enough to know she was leaving town the next day. But I could be mistaken. Rest in Peace Katie and Bowie.
