You can post on as many threads as you want to. What Atthelake is referring to is where you are cross-posting the same information from one thread to the other, back and forth, as if the two threads are actually combined. The links and the articles concerning an individual case, should stay in that thread......not be posted on another thread that seems related.

Kelly Nash is estimated to have left his house on Jan. 5 at 3:30am.

Samuel Waters was last seen on
Jan. 4 at 10:00pm.

Kelly was found in the lake off a dock behind his father's house. LE searched a fire pit for Samuel just 9 houses down.

These two men disappeared five and a half hours apart and the remains of both may be recovered on the same street.

Yet Police Captain Jeff Smith has already determined there is no connection?

Are dead bodies turning up on a regular basis in this very nice neighborhood? Or does LE already know all details in both cases?

My gut instinct here is suicide. Very odd circumstances, but it doesn't seem to be an issue of knowing bad people, or even robbery.

Had this been an attempted robbery I feel like at best the perps would have fled, at worst both Kelly and the GF would have been killed and the house looted.

People prefer debts settled by payment, not having to go through the trouble of killing and disposing a body. Kelly seemed to have a successful family, any monetary debt probably would have been easily settled. I just don't see a motive here over a drug debt or some random robbery attempt.

It's hard to tell, but perhaps Dad pushed him too hard to chase success. Maybe he felt his family would be less sad if he simply went missing.

I agree with your idea about dad maybe pushing him too hard to achieve success. But there are many strange aspects of this case that would want to make me feel sure that it was indeed a suicide.

There is the part in the program where Kelly's sister talks about how she had moved back to the area and Kelly told her how he was talking about graduating and that they would be able to see each other. Yet the conversation only happened not too long before he went missing.

There is the open door in the downstairs where the cars are kept. You can tell in the Disappeared episode that his girlfriend Jessica is holding onto Kelly's dog when she opens the door. It looks like the same dog in a picture with Kelly at the beach. So the dogs must have been in a room or caged and not able to walk around next to Kelly if he left going out the open door down in the garage. The point is that Kelly might have wanted to hurt himself, but I could not understand allowing the dog to run into the open and possibly get hit by a car because of the open door.


I can only guess the medical examiner ruled this a suicide. Other members here have written about other people that have committed suicide and been found in water too so I can only think it must be possible to commit suicide in the manner in which Kelly was found.

I think if it were me I would just want to go through a brief summary of his life finding out what he read, how he worked, and who he knew before closing the case as a suicide. This is probably why I am not a police officer because I would spend too much time on something that should be a closed case.

Same street but different side of street. I believe I did a map of it upthread.

If you drive down shadburn Ferry, you first come to Kelly's father's house on the right... and with the Samuel case, the relative's house is on the left hand side of the street further down. The houses back up two * different * coves on Lake Lanier .

ETA Kelly was found in cove of his dad off the right side of the street.

ETA just this past week family of Erin Corwin case came online and said that when they found body .. they were told not to tell anyone and they did not .. until she came on Websleuths a year later on the anniversary and told us all that was what transpired .

If the family is still being kept in the loop,that it is still being investigated, I can understand their total silence.

:moo: individuals connected with this case have been called by police in the last 3 months asking for more information on things that were never asked before . :moo: due to the questions being asked, it is obvious to me that it indeed is still being investigated as a homicide... not a suicide.

There indeed are rumors up atthelake... but nothing substantial, all rumors.

I just watched this on discovery , the girlfriend left me wondering if there is more to this than meets the eye?!


No sign of any kind of depression from the people closest to him and yet he walks miles and kills himself in a lake ?? . Seems very strange to me .

Also why he did he walk to the store when he was ill and he had a car , also why would his girlfriend even send him out when she could of gone ?!

I started thinking about something concerning the Kelly Nash case. I really do not think the girlfriend has anything to do with it because of the guy walking down the side of the road, but how do you determine if it is a suicide or come closer to that conclusion when you are a Websleuths detective? If you wanted to determine whether this case is a suicide or a possible murder, there is actually a very easy way to do that with two questions: Where did police find the gun? Did they find a gun?

It just seems like if a guy walks down the side of the road and stands in waist deep water or next to a pier and shoots himself the gun should fall next to him. So if the gun was found in water over 6 feet deep more than a few feet from a pier or the shoreline I would suspect homicide. The reason for the distance is because there is always the possibility someone shot him then threw the gun into the water which would be a big mistake, it not being found next to where the victim possibly shot himself. For example if the gun is in 7 feet of water with no pier nearby I would think that is strange.

He has to be in an area where he can raise the gun and shoot himself, but the gun be close by.

I just started wondering if there has been any official determination of suicide? Maybe that is why? So did police recover the gun?
