GA - Kelsey Quayle, 28 - Car crash turns into murder investigation, Atlanta, 8 Oct 2018

Did CCPD find a bullet entry point into the car???

JMO

Hasn't been reported yet from what I have seen, but LE's findings thus far seem to be enough to classify this investigation as a homicide.

Police have launched a murder probe into the death of a model who was shot while driving to work
Police have launched a homicide investigation into the death of a young woman from Georgia, initially presumed to have been caused by a car crash until doctors discovered a bullet in her neck.

Kelsey Quayle, 28, died Wednesday (October 10) when her family withdrew her life support, two days after she suffered a head-on collision while driving to work on Monday morning (October 8) in Clayton County, Atlanta. Police responded to the crash, believing this to be the cause of Quayle’s injuries. After learning of the bullet, however, police now believe the gunshot caused the crash.

It is not yet known whether the bullet was intended for Quayle. But according to AJC, a spokesperson for Clayton County Police said the investigation has been classified as a homicide.

So is is possible someone was hiding in the backseat, shot KQ, and in the confusion of the crash, slipped out the back door...
I know it’s a wild theory but ...

JMO
Did CCPD release type of bullet used?
Did it go through either side of neck or back of neck?

JMO and wondering
These are very good questions. The point of entry of the bullet into the car and into her neck will help determine where the shot came from. If the bullet went through the back windshield and entered the back of KQ's neck, e.g., would indicate the bullet came from a car in back of Kelsey. Likely, then, from one of the cars that passed her as she drove into on-coming traffic. The driver of the other car may be able to give a better description of the other car and its driver and note anything he/she may have heard or seen shortly before KQ crashed.

I also wonder if there were any pedestrians in the area at the time who may also have witnessed something right before the crash. Surveillance footage from other businesses along the route may also help determine if this was a result of road rage. MOO

It's all so tragic. It's also just strange, IMO, when comparing reports of the damage caused by the bullet, to the idea of this potentially having been a random incident. This just screams targeted, IMO, due to road rage or something else but I hope we learn more details soon.

Family members tell FOX 5 News the bullet entered Quayle's neck, severing her spinal cord at the base of her brain, causing catastrophic brain damage. Her sister can't imagine why anyone would do this. Police turning to the public for help in solving the bizarre case.
Model shot while driving in Clayton County
"Upon her being transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, it was found she had suffered a gunshot wound," said Capt. Scott Stubbs of the Clayton County Police Department told WSB-TV.

[....]

"It seems to be random at this time," Stubbs told WSB-TV. "We have no reports of anyone reporting any gunfire, no reports of anybody driving erratically."

IIRC is a busy area near Southern Regional Med Center with lots of Dr. offices nearby.

There certainly seems to be quite a lot of businesses on that road that could have surveillance footage to share. Hopefully they can sift through the footage and backtrack those two cars that went by her.

there's no way this was targeted - people don't choose a moving target when they want to kill someone - unless it was road rage, which I'm leaning heavily toward

From USA Today

“Police said Kelsey Quayle, 28, was driving down the road to work — just 2,000 feet from being there — when the Mazda 626 she was driving started drifting. Suddenly, her car slammed into oncoming cars. Police said she had been shot. First responders rushed her to the hospital in critical condition, but doctors were unable to save her. Quayle later died.”

Wow. I didn't realize she was so close to work when she crashed! That's opens the possibility that someone who knew her from work and harbored some sort of grudge against Kelsey was the shooter. I wonder if LE has gone to the dentist office where Kelsey worked to examine the cars there (a white SUV or a grey sedan owned by a coworker?).

Wouldn’t you have to be an expert/sharpshooter to hit her neck like that?

Exactly! Whether this was the result of road rage or other means of homicide, the perp would have to be a sharpshooter to hit her directly in the neck, especially with both vehicles moving if the perp fired from another vehicle. Someone with military experience?

Yes, I don’t think that’s a “lucky” shot. No word from CCPD on the bullet hole in car or trajectory...what if the car has no bullet hole?
Could KQ have been shot getting in her car and was driving herself to hospital?
How far from apt. to work?

In the street directly in front of the gas station, I believe it's the last white car to drive by. In the last angle, you can actually see that same white car (KQ's) just before impact with oncoming traffic (with what appears to be another white vehicle that she eventually would collide with).

And from the reports, seems that LE definitely wants to speak with whoever was driving the white SUV, or the grey sedan that can be seen driving past her car right before she crashed.

JMO

the white SUV they want to speak with is def an early 2000's model Suburban.

Kelsey Quayle Murder Case UPDATE:

We have obtained multiple surveillance videos from the area where Kelsey Quayle was shot and are attempting to identify a male seen in video obtained from a source. We have confirmed that the male was the driver of a 2011-2014 Chrysler 200 that is possibly gray in color.

We are considering the male in the video to be a "PERSON OF INTEREST". The male that we are attempting to identify can be seen approaching the door of the bus and knocking, but not being allowed to enter. We do know that the male was involved in an altercation outside of his vehicle in the area where Quayle was shot. At this time, he is only being considered a "PERSON OF INTEREST".

Anyone who may have information pertaining to the identity of the male in the video is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8744).

From the above video, it appears the POI knocked on the door of the bus at 6:58am, given what appears to be the date and time displayed at the bottom of the video.

From the same post, I gather that the same POI was also confirmed by the Clayton County PD to be the driver of a 2011-2014 Chrysler 200, possibly grey, and was involved in an altercation outside of that same vehicle, in the area in which KQ was shot. Jmo

From an earlier fb post (link in video below), the Clayton County PD reported the time of KQ's crash to be approx. 7:02am, and were also looking to "speak with the driver of the white SUV and the driver of the gray sedan that is seen passing Kelsey's vehicle as it is traveling in the lanes of oncoming traffic."

If you look at this still frame from NBC the guy at the door looks and motions to the guy in the dark hoodie, who is holding on to the pole. Guy holding on to the pole looks away. Look st this frame and go back and watch the video that @rainynights posted.

Somebody has to know this guy.
LE should be looking at both of them.
And how many grey Chrysler 200s are there in metro Atlanta?
