Kelvin McDuffie was a 25 year old University of Georgia student who was found shot to death in his car in a remote area of Athens-Clarke County, Georgia on January 16, 2003 by a delivery driver. Apparently, police have absolutely no leads or clues on this cold case at this time. Maybe websleuthers can come up with some ideas.
What I know: he was shot multiple times, he had just visited Elberton, GA where his grandmother lived, he was in the US Army Reserves and a college student doing well apparently, he had a girlfriend at the time that he wanted to marry supposedly, the first detective on his case ended up being arrested for statutory rape and sent to prison (and I include this info because it might have meant he didn't have good detectives working on his case at the beginning), his mother had been released from prison on parole six months earlier for a manslaughter conviction she had for shooting another woman (I include this info because maybe Kelvin's shooting was revenge of some type for his mother killing somebody, just an idea, I have not read or seen anything that the police have evidence of any motive or possible cause for his murder), Kelvin's father, Christopher McDuffie was murdered two years later while at work by another employee of the poultry plant he worked at. According to police though his murder had nothing to do with Kelvin's murder. Christopher McDuffie was apparently involved in a love triangle. He and another man at his work liked or dated the same woman and the man ended up shooting Christopher to death while they were at work. So Kelvin's dad died at 52 from being murdered, and Kelvin died at 25 from being murdered. Kelvin was a teen when his mom was sent to prison for manslaughter. So a lot of tragedy in this family, but Kelvin seemed to being doing well at the time of his murder and he had plans and goals. He wanted to open his own restaurant in his hometown of Elberton, Georgia.
