I just came across this case on NamUs, and was looking for updates or more information. I found an online obituary for him (by searching his name and city.) It gives the date of November 2020. However he is still listed in NamUs.
I'm not sure what this means; was he located? Some of the previous articles don't open for me.

My heart goes out to his family. You can tell he was an intelligent person and kind; he obviously loved animals and his family. May he be at peace.
