Authorities and family are seeking help in locating 37-year-old Leigh McAlister of Lexington, South Carolina, who has been reported missing in the metro Atlanta area. McAlister was last seen on February 14. According to her husband, Rob McAlister, she was spotted on Saturday afternoon in Buckhead, across from Publix at the Buckhead Landing on Piedmont Avenue. Her vehicle, a sport utility vehicle, was discovered today at The Battery in Atlanta. Both her phone and wallet were inside the SUV.

Rob McAlister described his wife’s disappearance as highly unusual, stating that she has never disappeared before. The couple shares a 4-year-old son. “This is way out of character for Leigh,” he said, expressing his concern and urging anyone with information to come forward. He confirmed that he last spoke with Leigh on Friday night and immediately traveled to Atlanta to search for her.

Rob is actively looking for his wife and pleaded with the public: anyone who may have seen Leigh should contact the Cobb County Police Department, dial 911, or reach out to Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta. Cobb County Police have confirmed that their Major Crimes Unit is investigating the case. Officials have not released additional details but stress that the investigation is ongoing.

Sources indicate that Leigh traveled to Atlanta to attend a conference at a Midtown church. Beyond this, authorities and family are asking for patience as they work to piece together her movements since her last confirmed sighting. Leigh McAlister’s family and law enforcement are appealing to the public for assistance in locating her safely. Anyone with information is urged to come forward immediately.

Are there any details about the locations for the conference, her lodgings, the Publix and where her vehicle was found in relation to each other?

I'm going to consider this a rumor as it's on the reporter's Facebook page but not yet on the news page for her.
She has been found in a hospital.

Comments and questions (local northern ATL suburbs):

-What church conference? I looked and looked last night and can find no information or record of a church or bible or fellowship type conference taking place in Midtown Atlanta over the 14th- 15th of February. It was Valentine's Day. There was one bible conference I believe that was scheduled sometime the following (this) week in Lawrenceville (nowhere near Midtown)

-Where was she staying? In Midtown? In Buckhead? Most of the hotels in the Midtown and Buckhead areas are are very very expensive. I guess she could have been staying out near Truist Park (the Battery Area - or someplace along Cobb Parkway or Windy Hill Rd). Not as expensive as Midtown or , but probably still in the $$$ range

-Midtown is probably 5-6 miles SSE of Buckhead. Buckhead is probably 7 miles SE of Truist Park and the Battery (which are both just N of I-265, near (just W of) I-75 between Cobb Pkwy (W of stadium) and Windy Mill (E of stadium.

Of course it can take quite a while to get between each of the locations depending on traffic. Easily 20-30 mins ea, worse during rush hour.

There is expensive shopping in Buckhead at Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza (both on P'tree St.). The Publix pkg lot they speak of is only a block or two off of Peachtree (I'd say WNW of P'tree). There is not really any high end shopping in the pkg area of that Publix, though it is not run down. Just across Piedmont to the N is high end shopping, hotels, restaurants and office towers as you head north to Lenox and Phipps

-Where specifically was she seen on cctv in the Publix B'head Landing Lot? I believe it was I the afternoon, The article says that the family says she was last seen at this location, but I have not yet heard APD say that.

-If you were visiting ATL and staying in midtown (which, we don't know where she was staying) and you wanted to go to a nice restaurant for lunch or go shopping during the day, you'd head N to Buckhead.

If you have never seen Truist Park and the Battery you might then go further N from Buckhead to the Battery.

As a relatively young woman I don't think you'd want to go to either location by yourself if it was after dark, especially if you weren't familiar with the N half of the city. You could take uber, which would definitely make things easier, but it would still be unfamiliar territory

-Did Leigh know (or was she planning to meet with, or stay with) anybody in Atlanta? If so, where did they live?

* I now see that Cody Alcott is reporting that police located Leigh this morning at an Atlanta hospital. I am glad she has been located and hope she is reconering from whatever happened.

The closest hospital to Midtown is either Piedmont (on P'tree St) or Grady (a good ways S, not on P'tree, closer to 10th), the closest to Buckhead is probably Piedmont, the closest to Truist would probably be Northside Hose to the E on I-285 or Kennestone (pretty good ways up I -75 N of I-285)

All Jmo

Cody is an amazing reporter and covers Georgia and the Carolinas.
He's not going to post anything without verifying it first.
I'm glad that she's been found. My son works at Truist Park and The Battery can get incredibly crowded, especially at night. Lots of restaurants and bars there.
IMO.
