GUILTY GA - Mary Alice Stefano, 72, murdered in her Macon home, 3 Dec 2005

A teenager who did yard work for 72-year-old Mary Alice Stefano was charged in her killing on Sunday.

Stefano, a widow, was found stabbed to death in a utility room at her home Saturday night. Police charged 19-year-old Brandon Parker, a handyman, with the slaying.

Investigators suspect that robbery was the motive, said police Lt. Carl Fletcher. The woman had recently returned from gift shopping for her grandchildren and police discovered some of her jewelry and her 1996 Cadillac DeVille had been taken.

Parker had been working Saturday painting a nearby gym and had walked away from that job, police said.

This is so tragic. I live in Macon, Ga. where this took place and Mrs. Stefano worked a part-time job in the same business complex where I work. She was a sweet lady and was adored by all who knew her.
