From PeachCourt site I was able to view a 10/2/2020 status hearing notice to Elwyn Crocker and signed by Judge Peed that a status hearing is scheduled for October 30 2020 at 9:00 am at Effingham Courthouse. Not able to link.

Checked on the others thru PeachCourt-
Kimberly Wright and Mark Wright are also scheduled for the same time.
Candice Crocker was scheduled too but her date was amended back to October 15 2020 at 9:00 am.

Surprised by this - Roy Anthony Prater (Wright's boyfriend) had entered a guilty plea on October 24 2019 but sentencing is delayed until all co-defendants' cases are completed. I looked back through the thread and did not see this. Maybe it is part of the gag order.

Also for info are the case #s. I guess they were put under a new # because of the death penalty charge.

No, his bio mom is interviewed (video at link). However, I get bad vibes listening to her and it is unclear why she doesn’t have custody for her son.

It seems she may have some disabilities herself. And maybe poverty. That causes a lot of inequities in court.

It's like all the actors in this nightmare of a play were doomed to play their parts. All the trauma and neglect seem to be generational. What a thing to hand down to your children. There's been studies on how trauma can affect your DNA and be passed down through generations. It's called epigenetics.

Many people consider those who come from abject poverty or experience trauma, like our First Nations people here in Canada whose children were forcibly removed from their homes and sent to residential schools can be prime examples of altered DNA due to trauma. It doesn't matter race, creed, economics, religion or colour, we are all susceptible.

The good news is that positive experiences can reverse the harm. The problem is how do we do that when there are whole swaths of society affected by poverty, violence and drugs? It's a Herculean task.

I haven't seen any news yet about the status hearing for her that was scheduled to be held on Oct 15 (2 days ago). Nothing has been updated on PeachCourt either. I did notice that the transcript from one status hearing held on Dec 9 was not posted until Feb 24. Long lag here.

Note, I will be only able to view the first page of any items on PeachCourt without charge.
Also note that the Effingham Court website still shows the Covid Virus notice on it.

I thought they were slow, but I was wrong. WOW! I just checked PeachCourt on Candice to see if they had anything about the hearing on Oct 15 and found this. It must have been some kind of hearing! A week later this happened! Going back to check the other three. Their hearings are scheduled for Oct 30.

Candice Crocker pleaded guilty on Oct 21 2020 and her case is now closed according to PeachCourt.com.
Have not seen any MSM on this.

Today was the day for the hearing so I started searching.

Found on PeachCourt.com that on Oct 3 the status hearing was amended to 11:00 am (from 9:00am) for Elwyn Crocker, 10:00am for Kimberly Wright and 1:00pm for Mark Wright.

Also, found that the local channel 3 (WSAV) had requested for a still or video camera in the courtroom and Judge Peed agreed to it with the stipulation that only one photographer and one camera will be allowed and there would be no live streaming. It was further stipulated that any picture/video would be shared with other media persons present at the hearing. Could not access the second page of the order if there was anything else.

There are no tv stations in Effingham County, but the three in Chatham County (adjoining county) are considered local channels, WSAV, WTOC, WJCL. Effingham Herald is the local paper (twice a week) and Savannah Morning News (daily) from Chatham County.

Hopefully, news will be forthcoming more easily now but no updates yet.

In addition to the Candice plea deal, this article includes the Roy Prater plea deal.
He has not been sentenced yet.
Also, the attorneys for all three have agreed to a date of Feb 1 2021 to begin filing motions.


'Each set of attorneys defending Kim Wright, Mark Anthony Wright and Elwyn Crocker Sr., respectively, agreed in court February 1 of next year will be when a first round of preliminary motions will be filed. No word on when a trial date could be set.

Right now, public defenders are going through the discovery process. That means they are looking at evidence handed over by the state.

The state is waiting on three more pieces of evidence undergoing DNA analysis right now.'
