Her mother has asked something really strange regarding the husband. Not sure if I can share even a semi-quote due to it being on social media.
This disappearance bothers me so much, maybe because I'm a long-time recovering addict. Plus it's so close to home, part of it anyway.
I really hope that she's safe somewhere.

Notice her FB page is named "Melanie Rae Goodman (Melanie Rae Steele)." Melanie's mother, and mother's friend are posting about Melanie being missing on Melanie's page, in addition to their own pages. Melanie's mother is posting multiple times per day about Melanie.

You can post what the mother said if it is from MSM, LE, or from an authorized "Find" page. You cannot quote from personal FB pages of people unless the pages are from the missing person, or a named person of interest.

ETA I am not a mod, but this is just my understanding of the TOS.

I've heard information about a phone pinging it's last location if the location was turned off on the device if it was broken or powered off, so I'm not sure how accurate the last known ping would be and that might justify why they are searching in Savannah but I'm not sure how any of that works. I'm sure more advanced technology outside of what just a user could access would offer more information.
MSM states Melanie and her husband were staying at the motel 6 on Stephenson off of Abercorn and her car was found on the other end of abercorn in a notoriously shady area of Savannah; the musical group outkast often reflects upon it in their music. Different news sources have said the car was found at an apartment complex there, but not sure the validity of that statement. The mother makes mention of video surveillance. MSM has stated Melanie spoke to her mother at 1030 pm and the husband called Melanie's mother and said she was missing at 130am. In my opinion that's a very small time window to recognize someone has gone missing, but perhaps he was asleep. Imo maybe she wanted to score some drugs but it was too shady for the husband and Melanie persisted and went alone? I have looked into the criminal record and convictions of the husband on the county website where they are from and it is a bit concerning. I've seen no one mention his record on other social media posts and imo that is probably for the best, especially after seeing the posts from the mom that I found off too. I think, possibly this is why Melanie's mom is making odd requests? Imo if law enforcement thinks he knows where she is but they don't have enough to do anything, it would be best if he never felt like he was a suspect. Imo, he may not be one after all. Imo, this is a very interesting case, I hope this case doesn't fall through the cracks and I hope she is found safe.

In the original Savannah PD FB post it said Melanie “was last seen” in the 10600 block of Abercorn, but never said who “last saw” her. Or was she last seen on video? How’d she get there from Motel 6? Drive? Uber? It’s 2.6 miles from Motel 6 to Walmart (10530 Abercorn), and would take about 2 hours to walk there & back. Where exactly was her car found? And where is her baby?

She talked to her mom at 10:00PM. Husband said she was missing 3 hrs later. Was she at the Motel when she called her mom? Why/when did she leave the motel?

So many unanswered questions.

There should be PLENTY of video surveillance near the 10600 block of Abercorn. Walmart Neighborhood Market (open 24 hrs), 2 gas stations, 4+ auto dealerships, a car wash, auto parts store, vet clinic, USPS, hotel, 2+ banks, bowling alley, Tuesday Morning retail store, 24 hour urgent dental clinic, Carrabba’s & Troy restaurants. And more, more, more! If she were LAST there, they’d have vid of what happened. Or at least when she was there & when she drove away. Or got in a specific vehicle. Or walked away.

Not feeling good about the outcome of this one.

I don’t do FBM, so just taking it word for word as quoted by mom in MSM. Last time I did do messenger (8ish years ago) it was like texting on your computer. In theory, it could have been someone else logged in to her account pretending to be her. Unless FBM is now more like Apple’s Facetime? Anyone know?

I'm curious as to where she was last seen in relation to where her car was found, it is not clearly stated in msm, but maybe they are withholding that info because they are investigating it. I am fairly local and used to go to one of the restaurants judge Joe named. The 10600 block is often mentioned in the local news here as a place some suspects of other crimes frequent, at least what I've noticed from watching the news here.

Welcome to WS! I’m local too & the Troy is one of my FAVORITE restaurants- excellent food. I sometimes shop TM & Walmart- never considered the area dangerous in any way. No clue what ppl are talking about. If you want to grab a late night snack or motor oil or Qtip- that’d be the place to go at that late hour. I really want to know who last “saw” her there- has it been verified, I wonder.

You make a very good point. I wondered it before as well, since she could've gone missing before the messages. Maybe she wasn't at motel 6 with her husband when those messages were sent?
The mother did share a screenshot of the messages on Facebook but I do not believe Melanie is tagged in. I know the mother mentioned giving Melanie money (160$) in one of the articles. Her protective nature towards the husband and those commenting about him makes me wonder if it isn't because he's a good dude who had nothing to do with this, or if it's a mothers sacrifice in attempt to find out what really happened to her daughter.

I believe, and I might be wrong, she was also arrested recently for the same crimes listed. The pedestrian along a walk way has me a bit curious... What is that crime exactly and why would she be charged with it? Georgia state code here I come. Lol. Though, it might just be a municipal offense?
