I think I even said in chat today that I think that if this slime is guilty, he may have done this before--his boldness wreaks of experience, however sloppy he may have been.

I feel really inadequate because I don't know much about the other 2 cases which may be connected to this man, Patrice and the Bryants' murders.

I have been reading Ann Rule's anthologies all weekend long in the absence of WS accessibility, One of her books is about the profile of a Spree Killer vs a Serial Killer.. If this man is responsible for 3 murders in the past 2 months, then he is a spree killer. I have to ask why he would start a killing spree now. Is he terminally ill with no fear of incarceration? Has he been institutionalized for long periods of time until now? Not likely, given the extensive criminal history SusieQ came up with, unless he's in a state mental facility or VA hospital for as long as they can keep him in between known offenses. Has he escalated substance abuse, thus lowering impulse control?
Did he stop taking psychiatric meds which had controlled a serious mental illness?

If he has killed over a period of years, which I am starting to believe is more likely due to his age, then he is a serial killer who is just now getting caught.
Remember that Robert Ressler has said that at any time in the USA, it is estimated that there are at least 6,000 undetected serial killers.

It is close. Meredith was living in Buford. It is entirely possible he followed her to the mountain to begin with. Maybe he saw her getting gasoline or supplies at a store first and perhaps overheard her discussing her plans with the clerk or something. They should try to find out where she was seen right before she got to Vogel.

Yes, we do have evidence to suggest he murdered Meredith! 3 blood soaked fleece tops matching what she was wearing, a transfer of blood stain on the seatbelt they found in the trash coupled with one cut out of his van, and the evidence collected in his van so far. They have the evidence enough to charge him with kidnapping her and change the investigation to a homicide. It isn't evidence of other kidnappings/murders, but LE knows the chances are good this is not his first.

GMH seems to like sticking around areas he is familiar with, i wonder what other areas he is familiar with now, so we can try to tie up unsolveds..
At his age, to just get up and kill is too random, he's had to have started much at a much earlier age..

I believe cases involving the National Forest Preserves, trailer parks, and places he would be comfortable in should be examined for starters. When they determine where he has been in the past...this should fall into place fairly easily.

Has anyone gotten further information on the five counties that Christine mentioned earlier?!

My first choice is FL.
Easy to live off the land if a person is broke and into wilderness living like this dude seems to be.
Easy to get " lost" in a crowd if a person wants to hide.
Known to allow established colonies of parolees to live in trailer parks together.
Draw a line down the routes from North to South and you get NC, TN, GA, FL. I think he may stick to a long- familiar route as well.

I'm going with FL as a prime place to ferret this lowlife's history out further.

This is all so scary to me! My husband and I were just down in Georgia for the day back in the fall buying some apples. We drove down to Ellijay and came home through Blue Ridge, McCaysville, and Copperhill TN. I have also driven through the Pisgah region of NC, and it's scary to think this criminal could be lurking on a trail.

All these small towns seem remote, and the forest is all around, but the mountain roads are really good because they are used by tourists. If this guy had a vehicle, he could get around quickly between TN, GA, and NC. If he knew the backroads, the cops might not ever see him.

I just wish they would find her body.

Wasn't a FL Fish and Game Warden ( park ranger or whatever they call them in FL) killed recently? Was the killer found? I know I read about it on a news site.

Hilton tried to use the missing hiker's credit card at 2 ATMs, one in Canton and another in Gainesville on the day she disappeared, according to Forsyth County Sheriff Ted Paxton.

In additon, Paxton said that Hilton made a call at 4:30 Friday afternoon from a public phone at the QuikTrip store in Cumming where bloody clothes and Emerson's wallet were found on Saturday in a dumpster.

A new witness has come foward to say she saw Emerson's dog in that area around 2:30 that same afternoon; leading police to believe Hilton spent at least two hours in the Cumming area

The clothes and IDs police found Saturday were in the trash bin of a convenience store next to the grocery store where Emerson's dog was found wandering around in the parking lot Friday about 50 miles from where she disappeared.
"The clothing was found to contain substantial amounts of human blood," the Saturday arrest warrant says.
The clothing is consistent with the type Emerson was believed to wear, the warrant said.
The items found include a black leather wallet that contained Emerson's Georgia driver's license and student ID. GBI agents also recovered a portion of a seat belt with "apparent blood transfer stains," according to the warrant.
Hilton made a phone call from a pay phone at the same convenience store Friday, the warrant also alleges.
Hilton was arrested later Friday at a different convenience store in metro Atlanta. When his 2001 minivan was searched, agents "determined that the rear seat belt had been cut out," according to the warrant.
"Hilton was attempting to vacuum the vehicle and wash portions of it with a bleach and water solution," the warrant says. Hi ThoughtFox... I do believe they already caught the guy a few days ago. Thank God huh?!.. Now if he would just tell them where poor Meredith is...(it's also being said he is not cooperating with LE)

ETA -- Errr . . . That "B" on the map is not where they caught Hilton. It is where they found Meredith's bloody clothes and ID and where Hilton made a phone call earlier in the day. They caught him in North Atlanta at a convenience store near Ashford Dunwoody Rd. Sorry for the mis-info.

Brain surge, SS. Oops. I meant to state "anyone else in addition to Meredith." There seems to be overwhelming evidence to suggest he was involved in Meredith's abduction and likely her death.

Gosh, I have been spelling Patrice's name as Patricia, too. I'm sorry for the mistakes:blushing: . I am trying to edit them to fix them. Maybe I am too tired and need some rest.
