I just checked NCMEC's site & Monica is still listed...do you know why would they ask for posters to be taken down & no longer disseminated, yet leave it on their site?

So confusing.

Monica Ambriz is once again listed at NCMEC. Should we change this thread back to missing?
This case is getting more confusing all the time!!

Prayers for Monica!

I changed the thread back to show Monica is still missing. Looks like NCMEC jumped the gun on this one. They are usually very good about waiting for official confirmation... I wonder what happened.

How scary and tragic. I hope they catch this 🤬🤬🤬 who did this to her.

TY for the update, ShowerSinger...I notice the article didn't say when her body was found....I went back to the link upthread from when a body was found in the vacant building -- it was on Arrowhead Blvd too...and FWIW, I'd read the article about the body in the vacant bldg before it was posted here, & I know that just after I read it, it didn't say that body wasn't Monica...made me think I was going crazy.

I checked google maps -- Arrowhead & Tara blvds intersect - El Progreso where she worked is on Tara.

Sooooo - with all that, is it just coincidence we've read of 2 female bodies found on Arrowhead blvd since Monica went missing?

It's still as sad today as it was when we first heard it was her on Oct.27th.

:rose: RIP, Monica :rose:

Prayers for those left behind with breaking hearts.

It *was* Monica's body in the vacant bldg

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- A dead body found in a vacant building has been identified as a Clayton County teen missing for weeks, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
.............................
A few weeks later, Ambriz’s body turned up less than a mile away from El Progresso. The owner of a nearby office building was showing potential renters around inside and discovered her body.

So - I probably didn't imagine things when I read they thought it was her -- and NCMEC must've heard they thought it was her, too!

So sad. I'm glad to hear that they have strong leads. Hopefully the person who killed Monica will be brought to swift justice.

RIP Monica.

Juni 2019: 7 life sentences plus 255 years.
Gerardo Artemio Ortiz Hernandez have been sebpntenced for the murder of Monica Ambriz in 2019. Unfortunately I can't open the article at www.news-daily.com as I'm in Europe. Could someone in the US look it up, please.

JONESBORO — A Riverdale man who preyed on Hispanic women business owners across Atlanta, raped and murdered a 17-year-old Morrow girl on her lunch break and lay in wait to bludgeon and stab a Forest Park woman to death in her own home will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Clayton County Superior Court Judge Robert Mack sentenced Gerardo Artemio Ortiz Hernandez, 40, of Mexico, to seven consecutive life terms, three without parole, four with the possibility, plus 255 years, all to be served consecutively. Mack added a deportation order on completion of Hernandez’ sentence.

Chained hand and foot, Hernandez pleaded guilty to a long list of charges in the 2010 carjacking, rape and murder of Monica Ambriz, 17, of Morrow, and in the murder of Maria Rivera, 61, of Forest Park. Several of the 51 charges were nolle prossed, vacated or merged into other charges. Hernandez was arrested following a string of armed robberies across metro Atlanta, including Henry and DeKalb counties.
