Day of Quinton's being found.

Around midday, someone on the line found a skull piece. It was taken to the forensic anthropologist right away. During or right after lunch, the anthropologist confirmed probable human remains.

They re-searched the line they'd already searched.

Quinton was found over only a couple of lines. Nothing of interest found in lines that came after.

They made the decision to stop, that they had found enough of him for identification.

By mid afternoon, most major case agents had turned up.

After it was confirmed these were likely Quinton's remains, the decision was made to break the scene down and end.

And miracle of miracles, Hilliard has no questions for this witness! No cross at all.

The witness is excused .

She found a white small object that fit in the palm of her hand while searching the garbage. She notified her lieutenant and he collected it from her.

She doesn't know if she found any other parts of Quinton, because everything questioned went into the bucket.

She's asked how it felt to find that part of Quinton. She says it was rewarding and quietly bursts into tears.

Hilliard declines to cross.

The witness is released.

Another tough day. Collecting pieces of Quinton in a bucket; I can’t imagine what the searchers felt!

Leilani trying to cry and appear sad during this heartbreaking testimony makes me hate her even more, something I didn’t think was possible!

Notice how she sometimes looks at her hands or the tissue when “wiping” her tears? That’s because she’s checking to see if she was able to make some wetness. She doesn’t give a rat’s behind for anyone but herself.
JMO

Hugs to you all! We have a young friend coming over for a couple days, it’ll be a nice mental diversion.

She found the first piece of Quinton's remains.

She was also on site at the house on the first day. She assisted with the search and canvassing.

She asked to be a volunteer for the landfill search.
Bless her. That's something that will be impossible to erase from her mind.

Do we know if Leilani's mother will testify? She was the one who supposedly had custody of Quinton (and maybe the other children as well). I don't really recall. It's been a long time. Yet she left town on business and left the children with Leilani.
And then there was the two of them drinking and having a good old time at the beach, all the while Quinton was in the landfill. All is IMO

I have no idea. She's the one witness that we haven't seen that it wouldn't surprise me if either side calls.

MOO

These are the things that really hurt my heart. I think sometimes I can get slightly desensitised following so many of the same type of cases by the time they come to trial, and then there's such real human emotion in one statement it really hits me :(

I still do not understand the defense. What is their theory? After the hotel room conversation where DY asks her where she went that night they can't pin it on him.All they can do is saying she does not remember which makes her guilty still
There is no defense, that’s why her Attorney has been chipping away at every witness called so far. Generally trying to create doubt in the juries mind - hauling company; route records aren’t accurate, driver had not been with company long. Landfill; many other garbage companies deliver waste to the site, not just WastePro. Just a few recent examples, but he’s generally done that with every witness.

Not sure what his long game is, other than some unnamed person abducted Quinton from the home and he ended up at Superior Landfill in the end.

I am completely moved by the reverence officer Zurkee, Detectives Lemmons and Solomon, offered to Quinton, it appears as if they are the people who cared most for Quinton and it's just so sad he was never offered it in his short sweet life. I am impressed by those women and the strength and softness they possess. LS could've made different choices and been a phenomenal woman like the ones who found and loved her baby. She has to look at them on the stand and know she'll never be an exceptional woman like they are and I'm sure she will be reminded of that throughout her life.
