Honestly that doesn't even seem excessive to me having to deal with her everydayFour or five shots of fireball, three or four beers a day was his daily consumption.

More than likely it was a victim advocate. I noticed a badge. Because of the nature of this case and because involves a juvenile it is closed to any witnesses outside of court appointed officials.Looks like DY had company in the courtroom possibly his mom (hopefully).
In all seriousness, we don't know his substance use before he met LS, but it's entirely likely he was self medicating. All the guy did was work, take care of the kids, and get berated and emotionally abused by a high maintenance drug addict who he didn't love anymore. Add to that, one of the kids was a six month old. I can't see LS doing feeds every couple of hours the first few months, can you? I'm betting DY was on bottle feeding and changing duty every single day.Honestly that doesn't even seem excessive to me having to deal with her everyday

Very true, there are many functioning alcoholics and drug addicts. The alcoholic is the responsible one caring for the kids and holding down a job.
Proof that substance abuse isn't the be all and end all of not pulling your weight.
