Hilliard asking who he had contact/interviews with and on what dates.

Asking now about the wired hotel room.

LOL I had pictured the FBI in the next room watching/listening to the feed, and that's exactly what they were doing, just like the movies.

Asked if he watched all the video.

His answer boiled down to 'I have people for that'.

  • #683
Most of the work on the video and phone taps was done by Agent Solomon, among others.

What’s Hilliard getting at? He’s asking if DY ever talked about going to the drug dealer with Leilani or alone.

Also asking agent if he recalled DY saying he saw Quinton twice on October 5 but later said he didn’t as he was in a hurry to get to work.

Hilliard is irritated that agent is adding too much in his answers.

Judge says, laughing, “Agent, you do speak in paragraphs.”

now questioning the agent about interview techniques, including lying and placing stress upon the interviewee.

did LS say she shot her kid? Drowned her kid? beat her kid? no no and no.

did she ever make any statements to DY during the bugging that she was responsible for killing Q?

Hilliard was trying to chip a way at DY's inconsistencies. A bit of spirited back and forth between prosecution and defense and some where is this going? questions from the judge, culminating in one of the first sidebars of the case. It's been going some minutes now.

Defense appears to be making the argument that after 60 days of surveillance via DY, LS never admitted or confessed that she murdered Q in all those hours of tapes.

Apparently he thinks this proves something but I'll be darned if I can figure out what except his client is a lying child murdering liar pants.

Agent says LS was doing a speedball the night she killed Q and how those drugs affect people.

Interesting that Leilani gets to wear headphones in order to hear the sidebar discussion.

Hilliard back asking about the wiretap, when it began. Asking if they surveilled anyone else in the family. He says there was a pole camera outside the home.

Hilliard querying the agent lying to LS.

We're getting another sidebar.

I missed it, what witness did LS say was smoking crack?

He's explaining his interview tactics.

Hilliard listing a number of potential causes of death and pressed that LS never admitted to doing any of them to Quinton. Witness agrees she never did.

Admits he did not review every phone call to DY's phone. That none of them were LS admitting killing Quinton.

I believe Missy, but I'm a few minutes behind so I could be wrong.

I believe that these next few witnesses the state will be bringing forward, may be the drug dealer and friend ( cousin?).
Hilliard was trying to jump ahead and disparage the character of them in advance. These could be the dealer and 'side piece' friend(s) of LS.

I see where Hilliard is digging with the drug angle, but the witness us correct in not generalising about effects.

DY's claim of cocaine making him sleepy to me makes perfect sense to me, as someone who takes ritalin for my ADHD. Ritalin is a stimulant, but it helps people with ADHD be calmer and focussed. I also have a friend who cannot be given most anaesthetic drugs because they make her bounce off the wall hyperactive rather than sedating her. Reaction to drugs is very individual.

The witness is excused.

We're having a short break.

Best I can figure is that Hilliard is trying to establish that Leilani never admitted to harming Quinton even during the wire tap, that Danny is an unreliable witness because of his own drug use and that Leilani may have been too high that night to remember things accurately and/or may not remember if she harmed Quinton or if someone else did.

Sound right? I really don’t have a good bead on defense strategy yet.
