Dean’s finished. I thought he was brilliant. Court taking break before Hilliard’s turn.

I’m anticipating intelligent closing by the defense. I’m not too worried though.

I have forgotten- is this trial in two phases? Is this just the "did she do it?" phase, and then if convicted, the sentencing phase/trial after (whether it was manslaughter, first degree, 2nd degree etc.)? Or is all of that being decided today (or whenever the jury is ready)?

She said a number of times that if it came out that she did it, that she would take responsibility. The evidence has shown that she did it, and it's time for her to take responsibility.

"They sifted through the garbage and found the truth we have done our best as a prosecution team to present that truth to you... Now it is your turn."

"The only thing you can do in any murder case, ...to honour his memory, is to tell the truth about what happened and not perpetuate the defendant's lies."

I'm pretty sure this is the final curtain for her! moo

Short break. 15 mins.

I remember how infuriated we all were when she said that during her tv interview. Then she just had to say it again to LE, like some mantra that proved her innocence. Dean’s right, she’s not all that smart.

IMO she’s been able to lie and manipulate her way through life and now she’s at the end of that road and doesn’t know what to do.

Court resumes.

just like her announcing she would get a memorial tattoo for Q before LE had even decided he was dead was proof of her maternal instincts. NOT

Owens will attempt to convince the jury the state hasn't met their burden of proof. I think he is mistaken, and the longer he harps on about the more I feel the guilty verdict will cement in their minds before they ever get back to begin deliberations. JMO

"This case deals with so much emotion" not for his client though

moo

I feel like the jury will take his little spiel as: Don't let your emotion drive your verdict, let my client's lack of it do so LMAO

We're back.

Hilliard’s biggest fear is that this case deals with so much emotion. Witnesses broke down, jurors broke down.

But law dictates the case should be judged on evidence not emotions. Things were done during the trial to make you emotional.

“I” didn’t do that but they were done. lol.

Trying to say there were other garbage places it (eta, the truckload of trash) could have come from

Did he just called her a sl*t? LOL He did!

He says the 'state is giving you a wild guess' .

WHAAAAT?

Hilliard begins.

Talking about the adversarial system and how it's his job to hold the state to their burden of proof. How that responsibility gets handed over to the jury at this point.

The verdict is to be based on evidence, not emotion.

Implying that the prosecution has been manipulating the jury the whole time.

"I haven't been doing this." Sure, buddy.

Parading witness after witness. Bringing up an affair was character assassination.

And here it comes, throwing Daniel under the bus.

I can't say enough how amazing I think Mr. Dean is, lol, I haven't been able to keep my eyes/ears off him since I've been watching. Although, I got a little late start. I loved his analogy at the beginning where "a child getting into candy and you coming in the room, seeing the candy wrappers everywhere and asking the child what they did with the candy and the child lies and says I didn't do it, it was some one else who isn't even around, like, I dunno, their friend misty." Lolol. He's great. He really laid everything out so very well.
