Back to Weinstein.

@ThuggerDaily

Schardt wrapped up his closing argument. Weinstein up for his closing on behalf of Yak Gotti, beginning by thanking the jury for their attention over the past year and says he will try his best to move quickly.

Judge Whitaker just said that we will be going late today and continue with Mr. Weinstein, followed by a break before the state finishes their closing argument.

Weinstein starts out by thanking the jurors for their time and attention and telling them that he will move at a fast and brisk pace.

Weinstein starts talking about Deamonte Kendrick's beginning and how he had a football scholarship to play at UGA.

Weinstein said he has already paid for his crimes in 2015 and has turned to his art.

"He's been caught up in this targeting of Jeffery Williams," Weinstein said, adding that the use of lyrics is an attack on the first amendment.

Weinstein is talking about how the state hasn't really proven anything against YoungThug.

"Law enforcement put a target on Jeffery Williams' back," Weinstein said.

Weinstein said Deamonte Kendrick is one of YoungThug's best friend and is a tragedy of the state's war against Young .

"He finessed the police. He is a master liar, he is an admitted master liar," Weinstein said about Kenneth Copeland and his lies on the stand.

Weinstein's closing continues:

@JozsefPapp_

Weinstein argues about the fact that there is nothing tying Kendrick to the Infinity and the murder of Donovan Thomas.

Weistein just asked if the state is a gang as well because they are wearing red today.

Weinstein is going after the state for their definition of YSL as a gang and how ridiculous it is to use clothing, social media posts and tattoos.

Weistein said Kendrick was simply trying to make it out.

Weinstein is now addressing the other charges against Kendrick relating to the guns and drugs recovered from Young 🤬🤬🤬🤬's home.

"The state has not met their high burden," Weinstein said.

Weinstein finished his closing arguments after 45 minutes.

Weinstein only took 45 minutes for his closing argument. I'm sure the jury appreciated that. His theme was that the State delivered on the promise the defense made in opening statements - they were going to deliver a nothing-burger against his client.

Hylton up for the State's final closing, starting by thanking the jury, and then responding to Weinstein's statement that the State is targeting people of color.

Hylton says the defense case is a case of "convenience", arguing, for example, its simply convenient to blame Woody for the murder in the indictment

1732575311923.png

Hylton argues the defense's case is made up of distractions to take the jury's attention away from the actual evidence

If Shannon gets convicted of "gun possession by a felon", it'll be because of this

On the other hand, Hylton spent like 3 seconds on this slide and quickly moved along, regarding gun possession by Yak. These are the guns from 🤬🤬🤬🤬's house. Feels like they don't think they have a realistic chance at a conviction on this one idk though

Woah - at the eleventh hour, is the state pivoting their theory with Yak? They realized they can't prove he was in the car that shot Donovan Thomas, so they're now saying he was the one who alerted the shooters to Thomas' location, even if he wasn't in in the infiniti?

I'm going back to the other thread as Deputy DA Hylton begins her closing arguments.

Deputy DA Simone Hylton started out saying that they are not targeting people of color but gang members and that most of the prosecution team are people of color.

Hylton is going back to Adkins' point about being a party to the crime.
Hylton said it was Kendrick who let the others know where Donovan Thomas was the night of the murder.

Judge Whitaker is currently reading the jury charges. We have been told that we can't leave or enter the courtroom while she reads the jury charges.

Jurors are paying attention to what Judge Whitaker is telling them. Some are leaning forward, others are leaning back but still paying attention.

I'm curious about the choice of black on verdict watch day......

I'm not clear on if deliberations have actually begun. Judge Whitaker only instructed them to select a foreperson, since then the attorneys/judge have been going over what evidence will be sent back, etc..

For now I'm going to go with 12:15pm ET as the start of deliberations unless we hear differently. My guess is even though they were only instructed to choose a foreperson, they are likely talking about the case while waiting for the evidence, etc...

Being told that the jury won’t start deliberating or shouldn’t start deliberating until they get all the evidence, which attorneys were working on before the lunch break.

Attorneys are now going through the physical evidence.

Family members from Shymel Drinks and Donovan Thomas just arrived to the courtroom.

YoungThug’s dad is also in the courtroom sitting next to Deamonte Kendrick’s mother.

Whitaker just said she wants to hand all over to the jury in five minutes, so she told members of both sides to get to work and be done so the jury can start deliberating.

Whitaker just said that the jury might be deliberating for a month (which seems like an extreme exaggeration) and she will probably use this courtroom for the remaining 11 defendants.

Whitaker is ready to go and told them that evidence is ready to be wheeled to the jury room.

A deputy has begun taking back the evidence back to the jury.

@ThuggerDaily

The 4 alternate jurors were just informed they're the alternates and will not be part of deliberations (unless an actual juror unexpectedly is unable to continue)Must be a terrible feeling after a year of sitting through this trial!

NEW: Jury is going home after 2 1/2 hours of deliberations. They'll return tomorrow at 9am ET.

The juror will go straight to the jury room each morning (bummer for us on exact timing). If no verdict by 3pm tomorrow, the judge told the jury they could leave due to Thanksgiving weekend. The jury would return MONDAY if no verdict tomorrow by 3pm. We will NOT have a camera feed until a question or verdict.
