GUILTY GA - Richard Vinson Merritt, 44, attorney, arrested for mom's murder, DeKalb Co., 5 Feb 2019

But SVM was found at the bottom of the basement stairs...

"A police report obtained by the Marietta Daily Journal said a cousin who drove to Stone Mountain from Alabama to take Richard Merritt to jail found Shirley Merritt’s body at the bottom of her basement stairs next to what appeared to be the handle of a steak knife. She had several stab wounds in her side, the report said."

So @enelram do you think RVM ambushed and stabbed his mother in the kitchen and pushed her down the stairs, OR RVM ambushed her in and murdered her in the basement?

Disbarred Georgia lawyer convicted of swindling clients now sought in mom’s slaying

JMO
I’m thinking he pushed her down the stairs

Not that it matters

This is a good interview with the older brother

RVM shaved his head at mom’s house and the truck stop photo was in Cartersville, that’s north of ATL on 75
From there he could continue up 75 north to Chattanooga, to I40 or 75 n
Or he could have gone 24 west towards Nashville when he hit Chattanooga
Nashville gives him access to I 40 and I 65
Dang
Where is this monster

Or he could have gone back roads to I-20 west from Cartersville or up 575 in the north Georgia or Western NC mountains, land that hid Eric Rudolph for 5 years...with some help.

Wondering if RVM has a "lady friend"?

I considered north ga mountains, and anything is possible, but coming from Stone Mountain, think he would have taken 575, but who knows. He’s crazy...

Maybe RVM has a “man friend” it’s 2018 after all!!

@soap mama If I was a federal Marshall I'd be looking at where RVM took those vacations paid for with the $$$ he stole from his clients...

Maybe RVM took 285 from his mother's home in Stone Mountain, PIB north and went west on GA 20, not Interstate 20, to Cartersville. Less cameras on GA 20 than GDOT interstate cameras.

Brother has been estranged from BOTH Richard and their mother for more than 10 years. Richards father died years ago....something very hinky here with the brother and family, obviously.

From this article I gather younger brother Richard was spoiled
by the mother and she probably bailed him out many times
over the years. Older brother resented it and disagreed with
his mother over it.
Mother was fixing Richard's favorite meal when he beat her
and killed her.
I wonder how old Richard was when the father died? Could
be he never had any discipline instilled for bad behavior when
he was younger.
Doctor Dru says boys who grow up without a father or father
figure in their life, never learn how to regulate aggression.
Add in alcohol addiction and anger, aggression and lack of
impulse control plus no respect for mother or others (clients)
and you get this user attorney who used others for his own
benefit. No wonder his wife divorced him.

Fugitive lawyer Richard Meritt's brother issues challenge: 'Man up & give up'

Very insightful on-camera interview with Richard’s ex-wife at the link:

Where is fugitive-lawyer Richard Merritt? Valuable insights from his ex-wife and brother

ETA:
“[SBM]

When Richard Merritt was first arrested, his wife, Jenine, attended the bond hearing and urged the judge to keep her husband locked up.

[SBM]

Merritt's older brother Robert told us on February the first, their mother cooked Richard Merritt his favorite spaghetti meal for lunch before planning to drive him to jail to turn himself in.

[SBM]

‘I think he had decided he wasn't going clearly. And he told her he wasn't going. I think he snapped. He was probably drunk. I know he was drinking heavily the last couple of days. I think he just snapped,’ says Ms. Merritt.

Jenine Merritt says she is terrified. She has security for her and her children. She' left her home two weeks ago and is staying in an undisclosed location.

[SBM]

Robert Merritt says the Merritt family roots are in Mississippi. His brother likes New Orleans and the Florida Panhandle.

Jenine Merritt agreed with Louisiana and the Florida panhandle but added New York.

[SBM]

Both said he loves to fish. And they both agreed on where he would hang out.

‘He's always liked Irish pubs. He's always liked a good conversation. A good drink,’ said Robert Merritt.

‘Bars. Irish bars,’ said Jenine Merritt.

[SBM]

Robert says his brother is a creature of habit and Jenine is convinced he'll grab a baseball hat and sunglasses and won't be able to stay in hiding.

‘I think he's such a narcissist and he has to have an audience I don't think he can keep to himself forever. I think he's going to start going out. Public and chit-chatting with people and getting cocky,’ Jenine said.

Merritt has one tattoo. An Irish cloverleaf with a crown on top on his right bicep.

So, we have a heavily drinking narcissist who may hang out at Irish pubs in Louisiana, Mississippi, the Florida panhandle, or New York, chit-chatting with people. He may be wearing sunglasses and a baseball hat, and if he appears shirtless, you can recognize him by the Irish cloverleaf crown tattoo:

Wow, his wife is really done with him. :D

She’s so right, if he is a narc, he cannot stand his own presence and needs supply (attention and adoration) asap!

good synopsis. Plus he's a control freak- she says he told her "If
I can't have ya no other man can have ya." or something similar.

I hope their children are already in therapy. Not a good role model to have young people observing.

Would be interesting to hear about his relationship with his
father. If there was a relationship at all.

I wanna hear from his high school or college buds. Betcha he
was a hellion and nobody could tell him what to do.
Also guessing that his father was very successful in his profession
and this son could never measure up and always tried to take the easy way out instead of working hard and steady for his money.
Saw one article that called him (RVM) an 'ambulance chaser'. Not a
good reputation for an attorney.
