Authorities charged a 16-year-old girl Friday in the murder of a Lake Wildwood man found shot in the back of the head.
Lakendra Sharrie Stephens of Alma is accused of killing Ricky Anthony Patterson, 41, of Macon. She will be tried as an adult, said Bibb County sheriff's spokesman Capt. David Davis.
Patterson was shot sometime Monday as he slept, Davis said. Sherlynn Patterson, the victim's estranged wife, told investigators that she had not heard from him for several days, so on Wednesday she went to check on him. She found the postal worker dead at his home at 982 King Arthur Drive.
The teenage girl and Patterson had a relationship, Davis said, but he would not give details.
"We know that they had a relationship and the length and exact makeup of that relationship is still being investigated," Davis said.
