Police said a passerby saw someone placing the baby on a porch off Stoneleigh Hill Road and alerted the homeowner.

The suspect 14-year-old Malachi Richardson is in custody and will be charged with kidnapping and theft by taking motor vehicle.

I hope some churches step up to help Royalty's mom so she doesn't have to work so late at night.

Maybe mom could get the father or grandparents to watch little Royalty at night, mom needs to sleep during the day if she’s working nights.

I was on the fence yesterday at the start, but glad any doubts I had were wrong. And I'm super glad this turned out to be a happy ending! Thank you, LE!

Baby Royalty, mother say thank you to community after kidnapping (wsbtv.com)
Just a day after a scary kidnapping, baby Royalty and her mother, Elizabeth Grisby, held a news conference with DeKalb County officials to say thank you to the community.

Grisby started off by thanking the police department and others who assisted in the search for her 18-month-old daughter.

She described the moment she found out that her daughter was safe as “ecstatic.”

Grisby said she felt sad for the young suspect after learning his age.

“I felt sad for him. With him being so young, hopefully he can be put on the right track,”

Grisby said she was laid off early during the pandemic and she was working as a food delivery driver to help pay the bills.
