I didn't realize Mr. James is the district attorney of Dekalb County. He's Geary's boss! He was named one of the top 40 lawyers under the age of 40 last year (or maybe within the past few years).

For anyone who missed Steven Sneiderman's statement, (Rusty's brother) to the court, here's a replay.

FWIW, although Steven is an attorney, he does not normally appear in court. Today was his first appearance to speak in court.

AJC exclusive: In interview, family of slain Rusty Sneiderman point finger at his wife

PS...there's LOTS of photos on that site from court too!

When they began when Rusty was murdered, they didn't know Andrea was somehow involved. But through the course of the investigation, they came to suspect her. Now they feel almost certain, but Rusty's sweet mom said, she just wants to KNOW if she was or not. They want the TRUTH!

Highly recommend everyone read this article.

Scrutiny now focuses on victim's widow:

One very interesting snippet from this article:

Quote:
Neuman will remain at the DeKalb Jail awaiting transfer to the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, said defense attorney Bob Rubin.

Until then, any decision on whether Neuman will be placed under suicide watch would be made by William Brickhouse, the jail's mental health director who testified last week that he neither thought Neuman was bipolar nor took a previous suicide threat seriously.
I think for all practical purposes the result of this sentence will be exactly the same as if the verdict had been a straightforward guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, period.

Transcript and video of Hemy Neuman's statement during the sentencing hearing:

Notice that he never actually takes personal responsibility, and also that he says that Andrea 'should not have have had to bury (Rusty)'. I consider this a subtle dig at Rusty, BBM:

Quote:
I do not think that anyone feels that anybody won here -- everybody lost. I hadn't written this down but a lot of what Mr. Sneiderman said about Rusty is true. ...it is...
So which parts did the murderer think weren't true then?? Grrrrrrr!

Just in case you aren't able to watch videos, the link below has a transcript of Rusty's brother Steven's statement to the court. There is an actual video of his statement, but also the transcript.

I feel so sorry for this family. They really loved Rusty. This was such an senseless crime.

fran

Your Honor:

I am Steven Sneiderman, Rusty Sneiderman's brother. I am here today to speak on behalf of my parents, Marilyn and Donald Sneiderman, my wife Lisa, my daughter Samantha and, especially, Rusty's children Sophia and Ian.

We appreciate the opportunity to speak to you today and share with the Court the impact this crime has had on our family.

During our investigation and the trial, my mother has repeatedly asked me, "When is this about Rusty?" Unfortunately, I have been forced to explain to her this trial was really not about him. As a lawyer, I understand why that is so, but now it is important for you to know a little more about Rusty and why his murder and the subsequent loss of him from our lives is so devastating. There have been so many lies told to this court about Rusty, even to the extent of the defense shamefully equating my brother's life with that of this killer. So let's set the record straight:

*Rusty was a good provider -- Rusty achieved great success at every level of his education, from BHS to IU to HBS. His focus on achievement was to provide the very best for his family, which he did every day of his life. Attempts to characterize him as not providing properly for his family in this case are extremely hurtful and false. He had limitless potential which now can never be realized, because of that man.

James said she was not charged along with Neuman because "I have to prove a case beyond a reasonable doubt," he said.

"If I thought we had enough evidence, she'd have been sitting right next to him," he told the AJC.

Now, it appears, Andrea Sneiderman's own testimony may have provided prosecutors with that evidence.

"There were things she said on the stand ... it was the first time she had ever said those things," DeKalb Chief Deputy District Attorney Don Geary said.

Not sure she has any real supporters aside from the blogger-guy. Interesting article from this morning's paper seems to note the same absence of support for her that we have...as well as my observation of her deafening public silence between the murder and HN's arrest!

Could be interesting around here in the coming weeks!

Neuman’s attorneys told the AJC on Friday that their client would be willing to testify against Sneiderman if she were charged.

(snip)
But Don Sneiderman said he still wanted to give his daughter-in-law the benefit of the doubt. That changed when he heard, during the second day of testimony, Andrea Sneiderman testify that she first learned of the shooting from an emergency room doctor at Atlanta Medical Center. When she called Don Sneiderman, she hadn't even arrived at Dunwoody Prep. From there, she testified, she went home before going to the hospital.
"She knew. She knew in advance. She knew then what was going on," Don Sneiderman told the AJC. "How she knew or what she knew, I don't know."

I swear, y'all, AS just makes my skin crawl with her warped sense of reality, propriety, and anything that comes close to resembling the truth. I almost choked on my dinner last night when I read the following snippett from an article in our local paper:

"...In a statement, Andrea Sneiderman's attorneys said their client is willing to schedule visits with her children, "just as she has done in the past."

"We believe very strongly that it is not in the best interests of the children for matters related to them to be discussed in the media," said the statement from lawyers Jennifer Little and Doug Chalmers. "Anyone who has their best interests at heart would recognize that this is a matter to be privately addressed within the family."

I guess "privately addressed within the family" includes visits between the kids and the Sneidermans, just like any indication of AS's grief following the murder, any semblance of her cooperation with LE during the investigation, and my head spins with the numerous other examples. Hey, I may just get my bridge sold yet...

Here's the link to the full article for anyone interested:

As always, the above is MOO, IMO and all other necessary disclaimers,

Westie Mom

Channel 2 Action News has learned the DeKalb County District Attorney is moving forward with efforts to build a case against the victim's widow in the Dunwoody Daycare murder...

Prosecutors admitted it was a tactical move not to charge her earlier, because they wanted her to testify against Neuman...

"I believe she needs to be prosecuted for murder. It's not just my opinion, it's documented and supported by the evidence," said Doug Peters, a Neuman defense attorney, who has been vocal in calling for Sneiderman's arrest.
