Tharpe was last seen on Dames Ferry Road near Georgia Highway 87. Her car was found in the area with the keys still in the ignition.*

Car abandoned in Monroe County belonged to woman missing from Florida

There was no sign of the 40-year-old on Tuesday, despite searches with dogs and helicopters. Authorities even tried to ping her phone before the search was called off at 9 p.m.

There was luggage in the trunk of Tharpe’s maroon PT Cruiser, which was parked on Dames Ferry Road between Lake Juliette and the Ocmulgee River.

The gas tank was three quarters full and the car started with no problem, a Monroe County deputy sheriff’s report said.
