Husband of Georgia human trafficking prosecutor found shot to death

According to Atlanta’s NBC Channel 11, Shahriar Zolfaghari, 36, was found slumped over the wheel of his car when police responded to a 1:15 a.m. report of an unresponsive driver at the intersection of Rankin Street and Boulevard NE.

He was shot twice, according to officers. Crime scene investigators found one shell casing inside the car and a second outside the car.

“Looks like someone must have been in the vehicle with him or shot him at close range. We do have some ballistic evidence both inside the car and outside the car,” said Atlanta Police Maj. Adam Lee.... Zolfaghari was married to Assistant Attorney General Camila Wright. Attorney General Sam Olens appointed Wright to be the state’s first human sex-trafficking prosecutor in 2014..

Attorney General Sam Olens appointed Zolfaghari’s wife as Georgia’s statewide prosecutor for human trafficking in October 2014. Before that, Wright spent three years overseeing the Fulton County Human Trafficking Unit, which she established during her time with the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.

In Fulton, Wright secured convictions and guilty pleas for 19 traffickers, including two life sentences.
