Georgia soldier charged with killing 2 fellow Army members

An Army sergeant has been charged in the slayings of two fellow soldiers found shot in an apartment outside Fort Stewart in southeast Georgia.

Hinesville police said in a news release Thursday that 24-year-old Sgt. Shaquille Craig has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder.

Second soldier arrested in Hinesville double murder

Another arrest has been made in the Mar. 5 deaths of two Fort Stewart soldiers. According to the Coastal Courier, Fort Stewart Criminal Investigation Division agents arrested SPC Phillip E. Thompson late on Thursday night. He was then turned over to Hinesville Police.

Thompson has been charged with party to the crime of murder after allegedly aiding Sgt. Shaquille Craig in the murders (...)

Hearing sheds more light on double homicide

Meanwhile, Monday’s hearing shed new light on the case as Hinesville Police Department Detective Jeff Lui testified Thompson drove Craig to the townhome and was inside Brown’s residence when Craig shot the soldiers.

Police said there was a party at Brown’s townhome the night before the men were found dead. In last week’s hearing, Lui said that Craig’s estranged wife attended the party with Jackson.

Craig did not attend the party but was upstairs at a neighboring townhome, and knew his wife was at Brown’s, Lui said.

At Monday’s hearing, Lui said it appears that Jackson had started having a relationship with Craig’s wife.

The married couple had been separated but were not yet divorced.

Army charges two soldiers with March double murder in Liberty County

The Army has charged two 3rd Infantry Division soldiers with the murders of two fellow soldiers in March.

Sgt. Shaquille Craig, 24, and Spc. Phillip E. Thompson, Jr., 24, are charged in the murders of Pvt. Malika D. Jackson, 21, and Spc. Marquez S. Brown at an apartment on Rebecca Street in Hinesville on March 5.
