I wonder how premeditated this all was. Did he say, I am going to kill my child and then stage it to look like an accident? If he did, it shows major entitlement issues that he thought this would be a great coverup. He is probably used to people liking him, and did not think that anyone would buy that a great guy like him could kill his kid.

But could it be more impulsive and not really thought out?

Well, I think he thought about it all day at work. Whether it was planned before hand, or a reaction to something that happened that morning...we won't know for some time I guess. I kind of assume that it was such a bad cover up, because he was thinking about how to pull it off all day at work, in a frantic psychological state.

That explains his appearance and the dramatic 'show' of attempts to revive his son.

I think that he was banking on that ''image'' -- it could be there was an accident element ((at home or elsewhere)) -- but he doesn't want to take the rap for it and he was hopeful to use his good image to save face.MOO

He looks like he does in this pic, in my opinion, except he's just gone through the trauma of finding his child's lifeless body about 6 hours prior to his mugshot being taken.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...d-inconsistencies-case-shocks-conscience.html

Or the exhaustion of trying to cover something up and being caught.

I honestly thing his mugshot says nothing, but that he's dejected...which could be caused by either. (Although, I err on the side of LE, unless something comes out that proves otherwise.)

I would think charging someone w/ murder would be enough for a search warrant?

I really don't know a whole lot about search warrants but I ''thought" (could be way wrong on this point) that a search warrant was for 'specific evidence' and I am guessing LE hasn't nailed down exactly what they may want from the residence and their legal advisor may be running interference on that point.

MOO and my wild guess

What really stood out to me from this article:
"Eyewitnesses declared they saw Harris speed into the Cobb County Akers Mill Square shopping center and slam his vehicle to a stop while he overlapped two lanes of traffic."

I find it so hard to believe he could get into his car and not know his child was in the back seat. It looks more like he staged his stop to be in a location where there would be lots of witnesses. It would have been more believable to me if he had called 911 from his workplace parking lot.
sorry. Double post.

He sure did stop in the middle. I think he was in the shopping center so is it a road? Technically I guess,

I questioned that upthread too and didn't get much of a reaction but to me he didn't look terribly ''ready for the office''. I had wondered if he had taken meds for allergies, cold flu that kind of thing. He didn't appear as clean cut as he had appeared in other photos.

I know IT people often put in lots of odd hours and even go into work after hours kind of thing. Perhaps he had deadlines that meant he was working remotely (at home) and maybe had pulled an allnighter.. MOO
This is what I understand about the IT department - flex time and telecommuting. They can do some.of their work at home.

I feel like I missed something. Where did you hear about him being in the IT department?

(Not questioning in a snarky way, I just missed that this was established.)

Thank you. Informative link. It says that infants and young children often don't display rigor mortis, which I found interesting. But it sounds like there are distinct stages and patterns to rigor mortis, so that probably would be very helpful for forensic investigators to determine the time of death and also possibly the location of death (i.e. if the body had been moved).
I also am a little confused.
I didn't think EMS gave CPR to patients in rigor mortis.
I guess since it was a child they were on automatic rescue mode.
I don't know what the protocol is.

It was 2 bystanders who gave the child CPR after the Dad asked someone to call 911.

I thought the dad gave the CPR?

I'm having a hard time keeping my info straight with this one!

"Harris, who appears to go by Ross, graduated from the University of Alabama in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in management information systems, according to his LinkedIn page. His profile also indicates he has worked as an IT developer at the Home Depot for two years."

That is what I have heard from the beginning. It's never been disputed.
It could be incorrect. I do know he didn't work at a Home Depot store.

Don't most children this age know how to unbuckle their seats and how to open a car door, even unlock it? I would imagine, if the child was asleep when dad got to work and woke up either from door being closed, or later when the nap was finished and the car was hot, the child would try to unbuckle and get out at that point. I am guessing he was already passed before being put in the car, and maybe livor mortis (am I spelling it right?) showed he wasn't in that position until some time after death. Whatever the cause, I hope it was quick with no suffering!

In rechecking, it's all over the map on this one. Some media say bystanders, some say the dad and some say EMS.

Wasn't attempting to dispute. I have seen a lot of "works for home depot" in articles, but didn't remember specifically seeing in the IT office. Thanks!

"Though Cobb police originally reported Harris had dropped off another child before going to work, Pierce confirmed Monday Harris only had one child."

Thank you for this gngr!

So that clears up the two vs one kid thing. One child. No other child dropped at daycare that morning.

“We expect this coming week the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s office to determine, along with input from Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit, to really validate the manner and cause of death,” Pierce said. “Our two agencies will be working together to confirm that.”
