According to the official warrants:

On 06/18/14 at 1624 hrs Pct 3 officers responded to 2955 Akers Mill Rd, Atlanta GA regarding a person down call. When the officers arrived on scene they discovered that Cooper Harris 08-02-12 was deceased. The CAP unit was contacted and responded to the scene regarding a homicide investigation. Justin Harris, the deceased subject's father was witnessed pulling into the parking lot of Uncle Maddio's Pizza, 2955 Akers Mill Rd in a 2011 Hyundai Tucson, GA tag.... The vehicle came to a sudden stop. Justin quickly exited the vehicle, opened the driver side passenger door and pulled his child, Cooper Harris out of the vehicle. Justin was witnessed yelling "Oh my god what have I done". He then began doing CPR on the child. When someone came to assist Justin he stopped providing medical attention to the child and started making calls on his cell phone. EMS responded to the scene. It was obvious that the child was deceased. Justin stated that he went to work that morning and forgot to drop the child off at day care. Justin left his residence, took the child to Chic-fil-A in Vinings and then went to work. The child was left in the vehicle since approximately 0930 hrs this morning until he was discovered by Justin at around 1620 hrs when he was driving to meet up with some friends. The temperature was in the 90's for most of the day. During an interview with Justin, He stated that he recently researched, through the internet, child deaths inside vehicles and what temperature it needs to be for that to occur. Justin stated that he was fearful that this could happen.

Wonder who he was calling and what friends he was meeting.

Actually this typically happens with people that have a regular routine and rarely take the kids (i.e. father that drives to work every day alone, and then one day he is supposed to drop the baby off at the daycare).

It is often different for the full time "mother" because part of their brain is devoted to the constant query of "Where is the baby? Are they safe? What are they doing?".

We have all experienced getting on the road to a regular destination and then realizing we "forgot" to stop at that place along the way, we just coasted along and did the regular thing in autodrive.

Happened to me yesterday, I'd even changed over to the right lane a minute before to be sure not to miss the exit prior to my normal one so I could pick something up at the pharmacy yet I still carried on driving right past the exit. Doh.

Makes me wonder if he did the same thing. Knew he was heading to the daycare right after breakfast yet autopilot had him drive to work and park up. Now, I'm wondering if he thought he'd just run into work for a few minutes, show his face, get some task started and then go back out and drop Cooper at the daycare, got distracted and caught up and by the time he remembered it was too late. IE maybe he deliberately, irresponsibly and recklessly left his child in the car rationalising "oh it's just for a few minutes - he'll be fine". If that's the case it sickens me. Just take the kid with you for God's sake. Totally preventable and totally inexcusable.

Chances are very great that the vehicle was in full sun. Trying to find shade in an outdoor parking lot in GA is virtually impossible! The whole state is covered in trees but there is virtually never a tree in a parking lot (as a dog owner I know this).

LOl true. I was thinking more about the side of the building he parked at and if there was shade on that side for most of the day.

That's an interesting point stmarysmead. The story thus far has been that he went to breakfast with his son, but if he just went through a drive through and the child had fallen asleep it could be that he just blanked and forgot him.

But I agree with others, there had to have been something completely obvious for the cops to arrest him the way he did. Otherwise the backlash from "arresting the poor parent" would definitely be coming. We saw the immediately support system out there.

So that's why, in an effort at trying to figure out what happened, I've used that as the litmus test of the whole issue. What would the cops have seen that immediately told them the man was lying right then and there.

The only thing I can think of is that he said something that indicated he heard the child alive in the car and the cops knew he was lying because the kid had been dead for hours.

The other thing, if he is innocent, is perhaps he whooped and hollered and slipped up by saying things like "What have I done, I've murdered my child! I killed him I killed him!!" just in an outburst of anguish. Maaaaaybe they had to arrest. I really really doubt it though.

I wonder if the cops saw blowflies, death flies?

( I really hated using google to research such a thing)

I dunno, dont know..just thinking out loud to myself..horrid to think about ...but just saying, possibly death flies, blow flies in the car?

maybe perhaps, thats what the cops seen, or take notice and arrest him so fast, as to not buying the dads story..

jmo, just my thoughts...

Implausible considering the web searches. IMO

I hope we get this detail, drive through paints and entirely different story. But if he took him out of the car my reasonable doubt is gone. :twocents:

It was plainly stated he took him out and then put him back in and buckled him in and the seat was in the center of the back seat.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- Cobb police released the search warrants for Justin Ross Harris Saturday morning.

During an interview with Justin, He stated that he recently researched, through the internet, child deaths inside vehicles and what temperature it needs to be for that to occur. Justin stated that he was fearful that this could happen.

premeditated murder........................................?

Hmmm.. So he googles inside car temperature because he is concerned. Ok then. If that were true, you would think someone who is so concerned (that he googled it), would be extra cautious to ensure he doesn't leave a child in car.

Chewy;10672239 If he didn't get out of the car at the chikfila he could have forgotten him in the back of the car. It IS possible that the child fell asleep. It is possible that there wasn't a horrible smell. It's possible. That's why I like to focus on the facts and the things we can see as evidence. If he DID take the child out of the car at Chik-fila said:
It has been stated numerous times that he took Cooper INSIDE the Chick-fil-A to have breakfast. I assume the officers saw this on the restaurant camera tape. At the beginning there was discussion of whether he had been alive before 9 a.m. (perhaps questioning if he had been killed at home and this was a set-up/ cover-up) but then they discovered the PROOF that he had been alive and inside the restaurant.

I just want real verification on the evidence. It's strange that no one from Chikfila has made a comment about seeing them in the restaurant that morning.

Like I said an earlier post, it would depend when the websearches were conducted - if days before yes, this was premeditated, if that same day there's a small chance he just needed to confirm the worst or maybe get some hope against hope when he remembered he'd left Cooper.

I guess you'll have to wait for trial then to see that video, unless LE releases it.

I'm
Confident LE got it right in their SWORN affidavit.

The short distance from Chick-Fil-a....the fact that he had "hands on" the child at Chick-Fil-a only moments before arriving at work...and having googled the "specifications" about this type of death. Why did he need to know "how long?"

If he did google "how long" and I was on the jury I would convict in a heart beat.

No one that is concerned about forgetting their kid/dog in the car would google "how long until death"! They would google ways to prevent it!

BTW I have googled it a few times because my dog rides with me a lot, there are no dependable alarms to tell you when you left an animal or child in a hot vehicle, the only dependable systems are designed to monitor the car temp with the a/c on and respond IF the temp goes too high and presents a danger to the occupants.

Even the high end police K9 systems only have a beeper that says "REMOVE CANINE FROM CAR" as a reminder when the system is shut off. One would think even parents could set a reminder on their cell phone to do the same thing.

Well it's nice to put together a solid case, it's a shame we can't get all the evidence. But if there are links and whatnot, then we'd have more evidence to look at.

It could be that Chikfila told their employees if they talk to the press or mention it to anyone they are fired, because they don't want their brand associated with this story.

Last year there was an FBI Sting of an employee at my husband's job. The bosses told the workers that if they mentioned it to anyone they'd be instantly fired because they didn't want it associated with them.

Right! Cooper was old enough to walk so it's not like he had to carry the heavy car seat across the parking lot. Also, it would give his coworkers a chance to see his adorable son.
