Or they lied to him. LE in USA are allowed to lie.

You either pass the test, fail the test, or it is inconclusive. I've never heard of a test where you passed with the exception of one question.

Someone may have told LE that they thought Tara and the BIL were having an affair...maybe someone wanting to cause problems like the ex boyfriend in order to get the focus off himself. That wouldn't surprise me.

Kind of strange that LE would start harressing the BIL after he started going to the college where Tara was taking night classes and asking questions. He did that because LE hadn't gone there and he wanted that covered too. Tara was involved in a lot of things and he felt that everyone should be questioned who had any type of involvement in her life. I think he is right but I still think it was the ex-boyfriend.

LE needs to cover all possibilities, including persons in classes in which Tara was enrolled. Why did LE ignore this part of Tara's life and the people she saw week after week in those classes? I've taken night classes, and, yes, you do get to know other people, sometimes quite well.

What do the people in those classes have to say about Tara? Was she friends with anyone in particular? What were her moods during those times? Did she ever appear afraid? Did she ever talk about her personal life?

Very good questions. It seems her life was in a turmoil of some sort. Most of it has to do with the ex BF. Who came back from Iraq early after being an Army Ranger and then an independent contractor. What happened? Why his animosity when he said he was the one that didn't want to be married? Shouldn't he want to let her go? A lot of questions and no answers right now.

hmmm, is this Larry Gattis, Tara's brother-in-law?

Yes, it is her brother-in-law. I didn't read the whole thing but from what I gather he had been in recovery for 10 yrs and then towards the end of 1996 and the early part of 1997 he started writing prescriptions for family members but the drugs were really for his own use.

I'm glad that someone caught on so that he could get back on track with his recovery. Relapses aren't that unusual in recovery.

Websleuths usually has the most updated info about cases, but for some reason Tara's case hasn't taken off on this forum. Courttv seems to have the most info and current thoughts. There are nearly 90 pages and a lot of info under theories.

It takes too much time and energy to sort thru the garbage on the Court TV Boards IMO. There are some very wild and outlandish people on there. Hardly any locals at all. There is another board at http://cortlinraepi.proboards79.com that is fairly current. It seems as though everyone has hit a brick wall on Tara's case and until something new breaks, things are gonna just spiral around.

Has there been a "selective" investigation in this case? It seems somebody has dropped the ball and is not going all out to dig into all facets of what has happened or could have happened to Tara, and all people that should be looked at thoroughly. Is there now some tunnel vision at work?

I thought in an investigation, LE was suppose to look at everyone and everything they could before they started targeting a suspect, and let the evidence fall where it will. Are they avoiding looking at some of the evidence deliberately?

Mystery still shrouds disappearance of beauty queen, popular teacher in south Georgia

Feb. 04, 2006

OCILLA, Ga. - An orange jack-o-lantern, illuminated by an electric bulb, still grins mockingly from Tara Grinstead's porch - a Halloween adornment the beauty queen and promising young teacher put out just before she vanished more than three months ago.

Grinstead's disappearance on Oct. 22 has fueled lots of speculation and rumors on Web blogs and has been the fodder for national talk shows. Despite massive searches involving hundreds of volunteers and countless hours of investigative work by various agencies, no one can find her.

Authorities have never said they suspect the 30-year-old woman was a victim of foul play. A cell phone that she was known to always carry was found in her house, her unlocked car was in the driveway, but her purse and keys were gone.
A latex glove - the type worn by police officers and medical workers - was found in her front yard.

"There's a lot of speculation," Police Chief Billy Hancock said. "We certainly are still considering it a missing persons case and the possibility of abduction is not being ruled out. We don't have any evidence of that."

While Grinstead is just one of 2,300 missing adults and children in Georgia, she is easily the most well-known.

There are currently 15 registered sex offenders in Ocilla, GA. There appears to be no sign of a struggle in her house or immediately outside the house. What if Tara left on her own or perhaps walked to the end of her drive and was abducted?

I truly believe Tara was abducted from her home. This is not a big discussion area as other boards. But a lot has been discovered.

The fact that her lamp was broken, her alarm clock found under the bed, her necklace on the bedroom floor and her clothing hadn't been hung up tells me that something was going on. According to Tara's mother and sister that is not the way Tara kept her bedroom. It sounds like she was very neat and organized and never left her bedroom in disarray.

Tara dated a guy for 6+ years who lived on a dirt road, but she never drives on them? C'mon Anita.

I wonder if Anita meant that Tara never drove her current car on dirt roads as it is white? She may have bought this car after the breakup with the boyfriend.

I wonder if she drove out to his house that night to talk to him and then he drove her car back home....without her in it? Or if she met him somewhere else to talk and then he ended up killing her and driving to his house...doing something with her body and then driving her car back home late at night. It was unlocked and her family said that she never left it unlocked. He could have even put her keys in her house as her house keys were probably with the car keys. My money is still on him.

In reviewing some old posts, I have found a few people who said M.H. was only wanting to be a friend to Tara, that he was "comforting her" before her disappearance, and that he was not angry with her and only wanted to move on. But...

We have learned that M.H. and Tara had a heated argument by phone on the evening of 10-13 when Tara was returning home from school in Waycross, GA. She was so distraught that she needed help getting home, and M.H.'s dad and stepmom drove to Tara 2 counties away and helped her. We also know she didn't even go to work the next day as a result of this situation. According to M.H., Tara went to his mom's house and told him "not to hate her" and she threatened suicide.

A.G. has stated that Tara and M.H. had a heated argument "5 days before" she went missing, i.e., on Tuesday, 10-18. A.G. says that a co-student of Tara's in the VSU Specialist Degree program has confirmed that Tara told him/her about this particular
fight.

A.G. has stated that M.H. called Tara a "f*ing wh*re" at a stop sign or red light when Tara was in a vehicle with another man, presumably the last person she was dating before her disappearance.

Was M.H. comforting Tara in the 3 weeks he was back in Ocilla......or was it something else?
