Yes, it is sad and heartbreaking to me. I didn't even know about the arrest but I am not surprised knowing the condition his ex left him in.

Dr. Paschal told me one time he hated the thought that he would have to be on several medications, including pain pills, for the rest of his life.:( I have no doubt he became addicted to them because he had been on them for many many years.

Dr. Paschal was a pillar of the community and was the Chief Pediatric Doctor at our large hospital here until his ex-destroyed his life.

I am sure he was lonely as well and vulnerable to bad people who took advantage of that. They probably told him they could get illegal drugs that were more powerful than the ones the doctors had him on for pain.

He was probably in his scrubs in the mug shot because he did still volunteer at Easter Seals.

It makes me think now that Dr. Paschal may have committed suicide. I don't think he ever wanted to spend the rest of his life like this.

I will always remember Dr. Paschal as a sweet and gentle soul who loved children and was a great pediatrician.

I blame his ex for his life spiraling down. If he had not been so severely debilitated due to the toxic drug when she tried her best to murder him he would still be a wonderful pediatrician saving lives of the children he treated.

IMO

I feel so badly for him. I'm glad you're here to let us know about the kind of person he was. thank you for sharing your personal experiences.

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Two men and two women are in jail on robbery charges and are being questioned about the death of former Albany doctor Tommy Paschal.

Tracy Jo Walker, Joshua David Hodge, Brandon Aman and Tracy Atwood were all picked up Tuesday night, after Paschal was found shot to death inside his 3rd Avenue home.

The four are not charged with his death.

Tracy Atwood was previously arrested in 2011 for shooting at Paschal during an argument at her home in Lee County.

Paschal was not injured in that incident, but was himself arrested when deputies found drug bottles linked to him inside Atwood's house.

The former pediatrician's death comes 26 years after his then-wife tried to kill him by injecting him with the powerful surgical drug, Pavulon.

He was permanently disabled by the effects of the drugs.

yes, and that says there were four people involved in 2011 (and current article says four people have been detained) I wonder if they are the same four people?

I would be looking at Tracy Atwood. She really seems to be bad news. She is the one that shot at Dr. Paschal in Lee County in August 2011.

Now I find she was arrested in Dougherty County as well in September 2011.

Atwood, Tracy Lauren; Sept. 9; APD; aggravated assault; armed robbery; burglary; possession of cocaine;

Pavulon? Wow- she meant business!

What a tragic story.

How is it possible his wife was placed on probation for attempted murder in the past?

Pavulon!!!!!!!! A paralytic (muscle relaxant sounds nicer)! No wonder he was so injured, he had brain damage due to anoxia. Good grief how did prosecutors let this fly? OMG!

ETA: even though divorced does this ex wife have anything to gain with his death?!

Yes, he suffered severe brain damage and it left him to be in a wheelchair the rest of his life.

I wouldn't think she would have any right to his Estate. I am sure he hired high priced lawyers to make sure of that.

I cant explain the unexplainable. She should have been convicted of attempted murder and sent away to prison for a long time. No one in our community could understand the ridiculous probation only and I don't think we will ever understand it other than people with money fairs better in the justice system.

Plus she was a female and that also makes a difference in whether justice is truly served many times, especially in the 80s.

four people are being called “persons of interest” in the death of the former Albany pediatrician, who was found dead Tuesday night at his home.

"Dr. Thomas Paschal died from a single gunshot in the mouth", Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler said.

Officers found Paschal dead inside the residence with a wound to an undisclosed part of his body, officials say. Pending autopsy results from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab, officials are calling the injury an “apparent gunshot wound.”

“The wound could well be construed as self-inflicted,” Banks said. “We’re waiting for the autopsy.”

Tommy Paschal was found dead after an anonymous 911 caller suggested police check on him. His neighbors have since expressed concern about activities at his house.

"There has been some things that have been going on over there," said Neighbor Jody Smith. "We've been seeing, somehow or another, a lot more law enforcement going there. We knew something was going on in the house, but we weren't really sure. But [it] seemed to be a lot of arguments."

Since his death, the D.A.'s phone has been ringing.

"That's very good. Apparently the Doctor had a number of friends and people that were concerned about his whereabouts," said Edwards.

Coroner Michael Fowler said the autopsy showed Paschal died Tuesday.

"That's the day we are going to put as the day of the death," said Fowler. "We know he died [in the] early part of the 18th."

Investigators are still awaiting further crime lab test results, that they expect will reveal whether Tommy Paschal shot himself or if someone else pulled the trigger.
