There are several MARTA bus stops within walking distance of his house. He could've had a Breeze card or cash, I guess. Buses will take you to the trains. There are also quite a few other neighborhoods within walking distance, and you are in Cobb County/OTP within just a few miles. (ITP = inside the 285 perimeter / OTP = outside the perimeter in ATL speak )

IMO, the answer to your last question is yes. Since he runs, I don't think he'd be opposed to traveling a good distance on foot. I mentioned some specific wooded areas before (namely Standing Peachtree Park), and @arta mentioned Crestlawn. Others have mentioned the rail yard. But in close proximity to his house, you also have: the old Bolton landfill, the water treatment plant, the old City of Atlanta incinerator (side note: super creepy), and most concerning to me for someone in crisis, the Chattahoochee River with several accessible bridges. This area is not nearly as densely populated as the rest of Atlanta, even though it's in town. There are huge areas to canvass.

I have thought for a while that someone stayed there with him. Maybe didn't actually live there full time, but was there a lot. jmo

You're welcome! To be completely honest, I have struggled with the fact that I am no longer living right around the corner from his house. I am home during the day and lived at a well-travelled neighborhood intersection there, which I kept an eye on for most of the day. (My friend once called me Gladys Kravtiz, ha.) I reported quite a few crimes as well as suspicious activity in my time there. I often walked around the area near his house mid-morning.

The struggle and guilt comes in wondering what if? What if I'd been there watching that day?

I'm sure y'all understand. Trying to help here is the least I feel like I can do now.

Don't know if the CDC would say this, but is it possible he didn't have the work phone any longer because that final meeting wasn't about a promotion at all, but rather he was fired or quit? I know it's hard to lose a government job, but it's not impossible. And if he was angered and confused as his father mentioned, it seems logical he may have quit.

I totally understand how you feel. Big cyber hug. You have a great heart! But, as you logically know, it is not your fault that you aren't located there now... ours is not to know why, but ours is to do the best we can, wherever we are, on any given day. And you ARE doing your best! You are where you are now for a reason.

I remember in one case (that ended in "questionable suicide/possible accident")... this was in a state far away from where I live, but I started to get a gut feeling that the person was headed in a certain direction, and when he was found a day later, it was in the general direction I thought it may be. Even though I never would have been actually able to find the very remote spot, I truly had guilt that I had the right general idea of where he'd be found -- like I should have been able to prevent it. I know, a little crazy. It's because we care, and that's a very good thing. :heartbeat:

Thanks for the very kind words. Hugs to you! That’s one of the things I appreciate most about WS. People are not looking to gossip or just find out the gory details. For the most part, everyone really wants to help.

I truly hope Tim is alive and well somewhere. But if he isn’t, we all know that as the weather continues to warm, people will be out in these types of areas more often. Maybe someone will find him or at least some clues, and I sincerely hope it’s sooner rather than later for his family’s sake.

LE has stated that literally every possession of his you could think of has been accounted for in the house. I assume if he owned a gun, there would be a record of this somewhere, and LE would be including that in the list of things to check for in the house. (Not 100% sure as I'm not familiar with local gun laws.) I wonder if the same would apply to prescription medication?

Yes, the train yard is very active. I wouldn’t say there are “vagrants” wandering around there, but the area is the literal representation of “the other side of the tracks.” In the past, it has been assumed (or proven by arrest) that crimes were committed in the neighborhood by people who easily came over from south of the tracks (Hollywood Rd. or Bankhead area).

We had problems with car break-ins and burglaries, and there was an alleged armed robbery down the street from Tim’s on Halloween. (We had just left trick-or-treating there. I never saw an official story, so I have to say alleged.) There was also an auto theft/carjacking from the grocery store right there in the middle of a weekend day.

I don’t want to give the impression that it is a dangerous neighborhood riddled with crime, because it isn’t. There are lots of families and great people there. But it’s definitely not Mayberry.

Yes, it’s a great neighborhood in terms of location as far as getting to the happening Westside area, Midtown, downtown Atlanta, etc. But when I looked at the Google maps view, my stomach went glurge because of proximity to Hollywood Road and my two most scary experience streets, Gun Club Road and Browntown Road. Those 3 streets are notorious for decades being the place dead bodies turn up. And after just having driven there to search, the tricky part is his street and some very close by are highly desirable. His street has a great kids playground and the homes are nicely kept. If I were in the market for a home, I’d definitely look right there. But as Daisy said, it’s not Mayberry.

Am going on Saturday to search again in his neighborhood/surrounding area. If anyone has any specific places they think would be good to focus on, by all means post here and let me know.

Yep, you nailed it. Those good things are why we moved there, and it was only later that the crime issues became apparent.

I feel like crime is important to know about to put his area in context, but from what we know, there were no signs of a break-in or robbery, etc. Most of the criminals around there are younger guys who just cut and run. For that reason, I really don’t think it was a random crime situation. Of course can’t rule it out either. Sigh.

Thank you again for your search efforts. An early news article mentioned that he had several routes he would run. I’d bet money one of them was the Whetstone Creek Trail. Did you walk that already?

This statement set my radar off when I initially read it. It was the closing few lines of the CDC statement from a few days ago- when CDC called out the APD for the misquote regarding Tim's "promotion." It appeared at that point that APD had already interviewed and taken statements from pertinent CDC employees...... So why would the CDC still be working closely with APD.... unless there is something more CDC or work-related going on than has been disclosed publicly? (I'm still wondering if it was ever verified that Tim's car was seen on cctv leaving the CDC and if he was indeed the driver.)

Maybe I'm just reading between the lines too much, or maybe it was a way of CDC saying "Hey APD, you screwed up and misquoted us but we're still more than willing to cooperate with the investigation; let us know if you need anything." Who knows.... anyone have thoughts / input?

I really think it would be worth checking the trails behind Spink Collins Park as I mentioned before. It’s the strangest, weirdly private and barely used little wooded area that most ppl don’t know about. There’s an old stone boy scout cabin ruins and camp area....It’s not far from his place but far enough that it may not have been searched yet. (Ten min walk and 2 min drive). Maybe it has already been covered but it was definitely the first thing I thought of when I read the story. Oh and it seems the only ppl who use it are dog walkers...but it’s so wooded that there are many areas you could go unseen if you went off the trail a bit...

This is what I'm wondering about. CDC says there was no promotion involved and Atlanta PD says they stand by their statements. For two organizations that are supposed to "work closely" it would appear they need to get closer together.

How confusing to me. So, he received some kind of promotion in July? APD says that CDC told them he had not been promoted, then CDC claims they were misquoted and that they had promoted him.
