Located and safe. Suspect in custody. This is the next county over.

The two missing infants that were taken during a shooting in Savannah have been found and are safe.

A suspect is also in custody, according to police. The babies and suspect were located in the Lost Plantation neighborhood in Rincon in Effingham County.

Thanks for getting these two threads merged. When I first heard about the Amber alert, I tried to find the thread on this case through both the Search option and even the New Posts list to no avail before finally setting up a new thread myself. All's good and we're together now.

Now to find out why this happened. More details have been released. Her name was not Kathleen.

The suspect, identified by Savannah Police as Angela Montgomery, 23, of Rincon, is also in custody, according to Savannah Police. Montgomery and the infants were located at a residence on St. Andrews Road in the Lost Plantation neighborhood in Rincon, Effingham County...
Montgomery has been charged with aggravated assault and two kidnapping counts, according to Savannah Police.

Officers found a female victim, identified as Gabrielle Rodgers, with gunshot wounds at the scene of the abduction on 36th Street. She was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Rodgers is in critical but stable condition, according to Savannah Police. Savannah Mayor Van Johnson has identified the victim as the mother of the two infants.

Bond denied for woman charged with kidnapping 2 infants; mental health evaluation suggested

A Savannah Police Department officer testified in court on Wednesday that the meeting had been setup in a “new moms” group on social media....She was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. She was shot in the head and chest with a .40 caliber, according to the officer’s testimony..... Police were able to track Montgomery down and when SWAT went into the Rincon home where she was, they found the twins unharmed and Montgomery in a closet. Also in the closet was a gun, the same caliber as the one used to shoot the victim, according to police.

“She said she was unaware of the crime. That she was assisting her twin sister, which she does not have, and that she took possession of the children from this twin sister. And then tried to pass them off as her own children,” SPD Major Crimes Unit Detective Patrick Skinner said.

I'm very curious why she isn't being charged with attempted murder, as earlier in the article it's stated the Mom was shot in the head and chest. Sounds like attempted murder to me, but what do I know. JMOO

Prayers going up mom pulls through and recovers. I haven't seen anything since the media statement that she was still in critical condition and multiple surgeries after getting shot in the head and chest.

Link says mom was juggling work & a master’s degree & was thrilled to be a mom. Kidnapper is 23. Can’t imagine motive. I was at dr office getting check-up when the amber alert started blaring on my phone. I started looking out windows- as if I might call in a tip from waiting room, lol. Glad these boys are safe & mom will be ok I hope- said stable condition!

Another reason could be the more children the more money/food stamps and other benefits you can get. In the original "wanted" picture she seemed to be holding a child. Maybe it was hers also.
