Edit. I forgot hes a suspect, so we can talk about him. Sounds like he is saying this is baby mama drama and he thought those games were over. I will wait to see. He doesnt sound like hes running or hiding anything. He said he was out and the baby was running around having fun all day. Like he was clueless he was even "wanted".

It's rather unusual that no arrest has been made as of yet since Verla's been returned safely home. Perhaps it was all one big messy misunderstanding and everyone is doing just fine now. In the end, it's good news...for now.
