Ashley Wasielewski, 46, was walking laps around Forsyth Park in Savannah Wednesday night after attending a Christmas program at a nearby church when a stranger approached her from behind and poured the corrosive liquid over her head, according to her devastated friends and family.

Horrific.

In Dec 2024 a woman was also randomly attacked with acid in Hilton Head leaving an ATM. Approximately 45 minutes drive from Savannah. No suspects were identified.

The attacks may have no connection at all, but the timing proximity of both - so close to the holidays - causes me to wonder about attempted robberies.

how terrifying. What on earth motivates someone to do such a thing? And it sounds completely random, as if she was simply a victim of opportunity.

Just more sadness, horror, and pure random meanness.
It is beyond the "why" of it. IMO.

I wish they had a better picture of the suspect. I can’t tell if this person is wearing a mask or not and one hand looks like dark skin or maybe a dark glove and the other hand looks like a white glove or a claw or something?! It’s really creeping me out, TBH!

Thank goodness for the person who heard her screams and went to help.

The outfit choice is quite distinctive for an attacker - I can’t see many grown men (looks like a male on the picture) going out with a jumper with a big rabbit on the front. It’s quite distinctive so hopefully somebody recognises him.

Totally. The inseam of the pants look weird. Mask? Hard to say, although to the right side of the eye the skin appears white. Person presents as homeless. I think there is more to this story than meets the eye.

Disfigurement to me means jealousy. Jmo

Is it a gang initiation thing?

I must be blind or something because all I see is a skeleton wearing a hoodie… but I just showed the picture to my husband and he immediately said “that’s a black dude with a nicely trimmed goatee and it looks like he’s maybe wearing a bag with one strap across his chest”. 😳
