GAs prices are jumping and I think that is a crime

I live in Germany and I can get gas on base for $4.00 a gallon for regular unleaded. Off base it's something like $7-8 bucks a gallon. Needless to say I never run out of gas off base.

im paying about $3.50ish. not fun. especially when you're a poor college student who can't work because you have to go to physical therapy alllllll the time because of bad drivers (sorry i had to have a moment of venting ~ im in extra pain today for some reason).

anyway ... that's what i miss the most about d.c. the public transportation!! i LOOOVED the metro system !!!

Thanks guys for busting my bubble! Now I have to go back to the drawing board.:bang:

One thing that has worked for all of us is switching over to synthetic oil. When I switched to Mobil One last summer, I jumped 5 miles/gallon. I just switched again to AmsOil two weeks ago and went up another 2.7 miles/gallon on the first tank. :woohoo:

Anywhere from 3.17 to 3.29 here. :(

My BIL owns a flower-delivery service, and his drivers want raises. He can't afford them because he already gave them a raise last time gas prices jumped to $3/gallon. Flower shops charge you MUCH more for delivery than they pay the service. He could raise his prices with them, but then he'll probably lose their business.

Many years ago, people tipped the delivery person too, so they made a few extra bucks that way. Now only seniors that seem to remember tipping them are the only ones that tip!

Anyway, he's thinking of closing his business. Mostly due to the gas prices. It's unbelievable.

I drive a pilot vehicle{for oversize loads} and may have to consider something else. Unfortunately, I LOVE my job, grew up around the business, and can't imagine not doing it, but if something doesn't break, I may have to.

When I moved from the UK to the US 2 years ago I was paying about £1.10 a litre which would be about 8.00 American dollars a gallon. I'm used to paying high prices for petrol, however, I also never had to drive whilst living back home. I took public transit or walked. Thats not an option where I live now as it is not reliable enough or the distance is too great. Maybe this will spur more of the public to demand more fuel efficient cars, better public transit or alternative fuels. There is no denying that something desperately needs to be done, this country can not continue down this path.

I hate the new gas prices!
However, I also believe Americans love of big vehicles that need lots of gas is a big help in the jump.
