Gavin Rivers Weisenburg, 21, & Tanner Christopher Thomas, 20, indicted for plot to invade island, kill its men/enslave women, 2024/2025

Right, so they thought, but...were they thinking the men would cheerfully march off to the slaughter? And that none of the women, or even children, would attempt self-defense or the defense of others? They would have had to deal with 87k people in one fashion or another, and... we've seen some stupid people on here, but I don't grasp how on earth one gets to be THEIR level of stupid.
But the scary thing is... some individuals ARE their level of stupid. And they drive, and they vote.... smh

And eventually (heaven help us) they’ll procreate.

As we were conversing, it hit me that it's possible that they genuinely don't know how vast 87,000 people is. "Hey, there's number 8 and number 7! We can take that many of them out, right?" [/me shuffles off to hide under a bed, mumbling about how the Earth is doomed.]

Nope. Only approximately half that amount. Men were to be killed off (~40K) and woman and children enslaved (~50K).
And that includes male children up to what age? Did they think the men wouldn't fight back at some point?

If convicted of the federal conspiracy to commit murder in a foreign country, Weisenburg and Thomas face up to life in federal prison. If convicted of the federal production of child pornography charges, both face at least 15 years and up to 30 years in federal prison.

Prison? How about do to them what they were planning on doing to all the men on the island. They can go away.

I mean, it's possible some of the women and children wouldn't be too thrilled about the situation either.

I'm just struggling to understand just how far they thought this plan though.

Didn't they think that at some point one or two of the women might think to phone the mainland and say "hey, yeah so these two guys sailed into the island and killed all 40,000 of our men all of a sudden, and now they've made the rest of us sex slaves, can we get some help over here?"

As stupid as their “plan” was, it’s beyond disturbing that this was something they fantasized about and spent time actually planning. The fact that one of them was in the US Air Force is horrifying

Has anybody found anything yet about how this plan was foiled? Who informed authorities, and when? Apparently it had been planned for at least a year, according to this article from the first post -

Weisenburg and Thomas prepared from August 2024 to July 2025 to execute their plans, in which they allegedly intended to buy a boat, sail to Gonâve Island, kill every man on the island, overtake it by force, and take the women and children as sex slaves.

Were these two trying out a new brand of shrooms laced with triple strength psychoactive powder?

I’m not making light of their intent - thats scary, but how dumb can two people get?

Gonâve island is particularly isolated and has very poor infrastructure. Many on the island don't have access to electricity, running water or communications. There are very few paved roads, some towns are accessible only by foot or by boat/mules/horses.
I can see why they chose Gonâve specifically, but I tend to think that these two city folk would be horrified to realise the realities of the living conditions on an island such as this. Even finding drinking water each day would be a struggle.

I presume they believed that they had racial superiority?
