Too bad the last person on the phone with him was not someone who could present better on the witness stand :(

This is true and she's the state's star witness too.

Morning All. :seeya:

Looking forward to today. No matter what you think of Rachel, she IS entertaining.

I have to admit, I was entertained. However, if she has learning disabilities and was never taught that acting street in all situations will not get her far in life, then it is not very entertaining to see her on the stand. In fact, it can be very sad. MOO

I'll be interested to see how cross continues. I think the defense started going down the road that with the times that were on the cell phone report, there seems to be noticeable gaps in the story that she's telling. I think that's why he had her read the cell report and that's going to get emphasized in closing. Something that I saw last night was the saying of 'get off me' is a new development, this is not something she referenced in her earlier depositions.

Despite her being young, despite her story, despite her attitude and demeanor on the stand, I don't know how I would feel if this was my 'star' witness.

I think he's going to compare times from her cell record with Trayvon and the times of George's call to the non-emergency number to try impeach her story of where George following TM at certain points or at least where he was in relation to TM.

Quick question. I did some reading last night, but found myself very confused(not unusual). For manslaughter to be on the table, does both the defense and prosecution have to agree to it? Or does the judge just decide? Sorry if I'm confusing anyone and if it's a dumb question, this is just the first trial I've really followed and I really didn't get that part.
As I understand it the defense can agree to allow the jury to consider lesser include charges like manslaughter. If they do not agree I believe it would be up to the judge.

I believe this is exactly what will happen

Re: Rachel, IMO, the judge should rule that only the audio nd video of any of her testimony be entered. .. the way she speaks, I think many people would transcribe her words differently from what she actually says.

At least on tape, individuals could decide for themselves what she said.

I believe the defense has a transcript of what she said

Has the defense agreed? (pardon if this question has already been answered)

TIA

On Nancy Grace last night, one of the talking heads said the defense lawyer was so hard on RJ. Were we watching the same cross? I thought the defense lawyer really composed himself and noticed he was talking very softly, slowly, and encouraging her to take all of the time she needed. Give the guy props for having the patience of Job!

I think I finally realize that Nancy Grace's bias is always to the state, or, in another way, always to the victim. OK, I get that now. MOO

Here we go....

If I were a juror I would look upon her hostility and discomfort as a credibility issue BUT, I could also see a juror looking upon her as very authentic and unrehearsed.

Isn't it great that things start on time.

OMG she is sooooo hard to understand. I cannot believe they didn't try to fix this before hand. She gave me a headache yesterday.

Good Morning Everyone!!!
I hope your morning is going wonderful or at least good :-)

I feel so sorry for this young girl. She is struggling with sorrow of her friend and accepting being the last person to speak to her dearest friend then minutes or even seconds later his is dead. That concept is a lot to take in for a young girl or for most people.

In my opinion, for a few minor rearranging of the truth to avoid being involved in the case, the actual events as she remembers them I believe her.

JMHO
