I bow to your experience about innocents being sent to prison. I, personally, have never seen any except an occasional newspaper article about a person proven innocent who has been released. IMO that doesn't happen very often and I have not seen too many innocents sent to prison. But then, I've never seen anyone shot, either. Perhaps my life is too sheltered. IMO

It happens more often than you think.. They don't all get publicity.

I just always want to make sure if we are putting someone in jail for murder, we can PROVE they committed murder.

In my opinion LE or anyone in an authoratative role can get permission from a kid (especially one who is doing nothing wrong) fairly easy. Sadly, in these times we're in, that's becoming true for adults as well. The Fourth Amendment's protection is disappearing fast as people sort themselves into an "us" vs "them" mentality. And this case is a good example of this.

GZ, and many others living in these gated communities, believe that everone locked inside with them are good; outsiders who get into their little compounds MUST be the cause of whatever bad things happen. In reality these gated-residents have just as much domestic violence, child abuse, and overall fraudulent activity going on within the confines of their homes as do the general population.

George's address on his driver's license did not match up with where he lived so how long did he live there? The law gives limited time to get that change made in the system. An oversight or an attempt to hide his whereabouts? George mosies along looking into his neighbors' windows; he decides whose garage door is left open when no one is home; he knows who keeps their doors locked and who doesn't. A simple invasion of privacy or a peeping Tom? And George goes grocery shopping with a fully loaded 9mm pistol in an unsecured holster with a round in the chamber and the safety off. Just going out for some milk and eggs or a tragedy waiting to happen?

Just thinking out loud to myself and anybody else who can hear me.

I hear you.

That is not at ALL unusual for someone that carries concealed. If people want to "predict" when they might need it and only carry it at those times chances are great they won't have it WHEN they need it.

When buying "milk and eggs" at night you have to walk through dark parking lots etc....when I was carrying everyday (when I lived in a high crime area) I made sure I took it everywhere every time I left the house (unless I went into a bar or something).

which is why i want the state to bring up gz's criminal record.

Well, this is off-topic but I'm a believer that ANYTHING at all that's true should be admissible in court.

It does matter, a lot, the evidence of what kind of personalities and past that either of these two men had.

I'm waiting for some witness to approach the bench and refuse to take the oath "the whole truth and nothing but the truth" and state they aren't allowed by the court to state the whole truth.

I'd buy a ticket to see THAT performance.

Does anyone think this witness is going to go well for Pros?

Just a question. Not being snarky. Do you think that it is ok to shoot someone who punches you in the face?

Just a question. Why is it not ok to shoot someone pounding your head into concrete?

I seem to remember a reporter getting in trouble for enhancing a tape. Was it this case?

JMO
I don't think so. NBC as a corporation is being sued by GZ for editing the 911 call to make him sound racist. It is very easy to find the stories and the truth. It is now coming out that NBC has been editing many tapes. They did it recently with a member of the House or congress (can't remember) that made him sound awful but was all out of context. It's unbelievable but very true.

I think it depends.. If you are being punched in daylight with people around and it is one punch.. No..

But in the dark, All alone, Repeated being punched, scared that he is going to beat you to death? Yes.

I do. I think it's perfectly within a person's right to shoot someone, even to death, who punches someone with full force in the face. We've certainly seen cases recently where people die from that kind of assault.

I tend to agree. So much of the lawyer's (on both sides) time is spent trying to keep evidence OUT. I understand the whole predijucial evidence thing, but I'm sure lots of evidence is kept out that should probably be admitted.

I already answered that question up thread. I don't believe that happened. Sorry, I just don't. IMO the injuries sustain do not point to that. GZ was amazing clear and awake when the police showed up on the scene.

I think it's because he's being asked to tell GZ's version of the events as GZ told them to him - this isn't being used as evidence of what actually happened. It's being used to determine whether GZ always told the same story to everyone consistently, which is at issue here.
I guess what's weird to me is that arguement has never worked in the other trials I've monitored. Thanks, JeannaT.

Do they punch me once and then walk away...or am I underneath them and they are continuing to punch me?

In the latter scenario, yes, I shoot them.

Ah. Thanks for clearing that up.

I don't see how any of these are relevant to whether or not GZ is a murderer. The weapon he carried was legal. I do not believe the weapon had a safety, so that point is not relevant either imo.

I don't find what GZ was doing as suspicious as what TM was doing imo.

Re; GZ said he looked down as he went for his phone. Testimony and GZ has stated that the phone was in his RIGHT POCKET.
The gun was holstered on his RIGHT hip.

At that moment TM may, IMO, have seen the gun and thought that GZ was going for the gun.

  • #279
I agree with that. And further, IMO, if anyone said that it wasn't TM. In his opening statement, the State said that there was none of GZ's DNA on TM's hands or elsewhere on his body. Although the rain might possibly wash it off (IMO not possible) it would not wash it from under his fingernails. There was none there, either, according to the State. IMO

So how did GZget blood all over his head from injuries?

  • #280
My mistake: GZ says TM was standing in the front yard (which is about the size of a postage stamp) of the house, "looking leisurely at the house." I don't know how you could avoid looking in the windows, if you were facing the house in a yard that size.

Raw Video: George Zimmerman reenacts incident for Sanford Police - YouTube (at around 2:37 mark).

Love your sig, btw.

Logical observation!

All the witnesses who occupied that complex who testified about that evening said that their windows / blinds, drapes or shades were closed. IMO It was dark ouside so I don't see how anyone could be peering into the windows. I take anything GZ say in his dramatization, written words, spoken word with a huge celler of salt anyway.IMO
