911: Are you following him?
GZ: Yes
911: Okay, we don't need you to do that
GZ: okay

"We don't need you to do that" is not telling him not to follow him. Pretty simple. They don't have the authority to tell him not to follow him anyway. Media's done a good job of misinforming people.

This seems like we are already covering evidence...not just opening statement.

It's very detailed and involved...though not really sure how much he is actually saying (LOL!)

Bah, this opening statement from the defense sounds like he's kind of going through evidence in his own conference room before his own staff to get kind of a run-through of the evidence to be used.

Extremely unpolished - I keep thinking the audio has bleeped out because he is just so hesitant - he's kind of in "musing" mode here. As interested as I am in this case, this opening statement is actually boring me.

Perhaps along the same line as Nurmi trying to sell the jury on another Walmart gas can return? It's clear as day on the 911 call. Told not to follow.

West seems like he is improvising here- it's not flowing well. The knock knock joke was a poor choice.

The 911 operator said "We don't need you to do that" totally different from "I don't want you following this guy".

George was nevertold not to follow.

Good Morning WS Friends,

Well, here I am in spite of convincing myself to stay away from this trial. HA! Who am I kidding.....

This Defense atty is reminding me of Nurmi.....GROAN!

I would think a better display (computer screens like the Arias Trial) could've been made as opposed to having an easel with an enlarged picture that the def atty just pokes at with his stick, saying, "here and here"...

He's (def atty) made comments that he's not sure about a certain witness and what they really saw, what time the call between TM and his gf ended, etc... he seems like he's not prepared at all!!!

Exactly!

Zimmerman looks like he's trying not to fall asleep.

Prosecutors generally reach for the highest possibly charge regardless even when the evidence is better suited to one lesser. They are in the business of persuasion too...just as much as the defense.

That is my biggest problem with prosecutors. Inflating charges. And its to their detriment in many cases bc a good jury is not going to go for it.

Does anyone remember the Durst case where the prosecution only went for murder 1 (he cut up the body of his neighbor and dumped it) while the evidence imo would have fit murder two or manslaughter, they had no proof it was murder 1 ..just based it on the after behavior. Which for nutty durst wasn't something that made a linear connection. The jury acquitted Durst of all charges but in the post interviews said they would have voted for a lesser charge but weren't given the option

Sorry, but if you are going to do something at work and your boss says, "yeah I don't need you to do that" - are you going to just do it anyway??

That is saying "don't do it, we got this when we get there."

I hope George goes down.

Missed the prosecution opening.
Was it:
Really great?
Good?
So-So?
Terrible?

Thanks!

I am really looking forward to hearing the facts in this case. I have no preconceived judgments. None. I think it is too muddy to decide without ALL the facts and evidence so I will be following daily.

Right now, I feel like the Prosecution had a much better opening. Much better. Better info, Better delivery.. just better.

Only a handful of jurors are taking notes so far, for what it's worth. All have played close attention to both sides though.

West says #zimmerman was only following #TrayvonMartin in his car to let dispatcher know his location.

Sad day for everyone...... one person is dead and George's life will never be the same.

He should have never been put on trial to begin with.
