He had motive (so much motive), opportunity - and he hid the body. He lied about his actions. If it was a genuine accidental death, he could have called the police and faced the music. He wouldn't be any worse off than he is now!!

High Court case over

The Court has reserved its decision on whether to re-instate Baden-Clay's murder conviction.

Baden-Clay's defence barrister closed his case after being peppered with questions about his client's evidence at trial.

Baden-Clay denied having anything to do with Allison's death at trial.

Justice Keane continually pointed out Baden-Clay's evidence was "inconsistent with the hypothesis of innocence of murder".

"Only an altercation that results in her death solves his problem," he said.

Justice Virginia Bell asked why it was not open to the jury to consider that the lies Baden-Clay told on the stand about the scratches on his face and his conduct afterwards were inconsistent with an accidental death. - Melanie Petrinec@MelaniePetrinic

I thought there would not be an outcome from this until Christmas. It might be an easy one to wrap up. I think there is something weird going on with the wigs at Queensland Law. The new, outspoken leader of the Law Society is Bill Potts. He used to take on all the unsavoury people to defend - druggos, weapons etc, when he was here on the Gold Coast. He spoke out in support of the 3 judges who lowered the charge to manslaughter. This worries me. If this goes pear-shaped this time, I think I will start up a petition to the Minister.

Allison Baden-Clay's sister says the family remains determined to "achieve justice" and has been overwhelmed by community support.


Vanessa Fowler said the process continued to be a "very long and challenging road" but she thanked the High Court for hearing the case and the Department of Public Prosecution for its tireless work.


"Together, we will now await an outcome," she said, outside court.


"Since the decision of the appeals court to overturn the murder conviction last year, we have been overwhelmed by the incredible support we have witnessed for Allison and our family.


"It continues to be a very long and challenging road, however we, Allison's family and friends, are determined to achieve justice for Allison."

Witnesses were Nigel BC father; Olivia sister; of our course the biggest actor of all time GBC starred as himself. It was just so weird that Nigel and Olivia used the exact same words to describe certain aspects. But the best witness of all was dear Mrs Dickey. She made reference to what the BC family were really like. "Oh, they once invited us for afternoon tea. We had to sit outside on the footpath. That's the only time we socialised with them." She was so open, honest and honourable. We cheered at the end of her testimony, but of course we later got into trouble for it. She deserved a standing ovation. GBC probably deserved a standing ovation also, but for very different reasons. His testimony didn't help his cause at all. When talking about himself he could go on and on and on. But as soon as Allison's name was mentioned he'd bow his head and simply say as few words as possible. He hardly even called her by name. He referred to her as 'my wife'. Just like 'my car'. Another chattel.
