Annika Seidel bei Sendung Aktenzeichen XY ungelöst

"( ...) around three percent of all missing children remain permanently missing and the police then assume a crime. As in the case of Annika Seidel. On September 10, 1996, she was out with her mother in downtown Kelkheim. It was actually a good day for Hannelore Seidel because she had won the lottery and wanted to collect the money. Eleven-year-old Annika wanted to buy flea treatment for the dog on the way home, and the two separated shortly before 6 p.m. The mother later told police that her daughter always came home between 7 and 8 p.m. When the girl hadn't returned at 9:15 p.m., she looked for her and called the police. But they couldn't clarify the whereabouts of the student either."

Annika Seidel: Das wissen wir über ihr Verschwinden

"The Annika Seidel case has not been solved even after 19 years. The girl from Kelkheim has been missing since 1996. Now the television program “Aktenzeichen XY unsolved” is taking on the case with a special program. Under the title “Where is my child?” the Annika Seidel case will be shown on ZDF on Wednesday, June 3rd at 8:15 p.m. The police and the family of the missing person hope that this will provide new information and clear up the case.

The search for Annika began on September 10, 1996, when she wanted to buy flea collars at a pet store for her little dog "Tabs", which she had received as a gift for her 11th birthday five days earlier. At around 6 p.m. Annika was still with her mother at Kelkheim train station when they parted ways and the little girl made her way to the pet store alone. She never returned from this path. There has been no trace of Annika since then. Days of police searches using helicopters and dogs were unsuccessful.

Psychic was flown in

No stone was left unturned to find Annika, even a clairvoyant was called in, as “Der Spiegel” reported. The woman with supposed supernatural abilities walked through Kelkheim with Annika's photo and picked up vibrations. In their opinion, the girl was the victim of a sex offender and was no longer alive. She even marked the location where the body was found on a map - without success, the police found no body, Annika remained untraceable.

The police received several tips about the case, two witnesses even said they had seen Annika - once in front of a car with an Eastern European license plate and once near the Gimbacher Hof, a destination between Fischbach and Kelkheim. To this day, it is still unclear whether the person seen was really Annika or whether the witnesses were mistaken. However, these tips were just as unsuccessful as leaflets with Annika's photo that were distributed in the area.

Police rely on new information

The case is on file with the Hofheim police, but is by no means closed. The investigators continue to hope for new information to solve the case. The program “File number XY unsolved” may help, bringing the case back into people’s awareness. The police currently have no opportunity to investigate the case further because there are no new clues or clues. For this reason, it is extremely important that by broadcasting the case, witnesses can be found who can say something about the disappearance of little Annika Seidel.

The hope of finding Annika alive is now extremely low. The police assume that she was the victim of a violent crime and is no longer alive. The pain and uncertainty often cause unbearable torment for families of missing people. That's why it's especially important for Annika's family that the disappearance is solved and they know what happened to their Annika back then, 19 years ago. Her mother will no longer find out about her daughter's fate; she has now died."

Nach 25 Jahren: Hat die Polizei die Suche nach Annika (11) aufgegeben?

"One of Hesse's most mysterious missing person cases has been unsolved for 25 years. Witnesses repeatedly claim to have seen Annika Seidel (then 11) after she disappeared without a trace. Also at the grave of Annika's now deceased mother. Apparently all phantom sightings."

There's a paywall on it so I couldn't access the whole article. Interesting to know that some witness believe to have seen her, especially on her mother's grave.

Stand Annika am Grab?

"On Wednesday evening, ZDF reported on this old case in its program “Aktenzeichen XY... unresolved” and reported a surprising observation. A family acquaintance claims to have seen Annika, now an adult, at her mother's grave in 2008, where she is said to have replaced the funeral lamp several times. In the show, the woman wore a headscarf and sunglasses."

Also stated further in the article :

"As early as 1996, investigators assumed there had been an abduction because Annika had been observed by an acquaintance near a department store on her way to the pet store, standing in front of the open passenger door. 'a white car with a Croatian license plate. Witnesses also claimed to have seen the girl in the surrounding area in the following days, for example at the Gimbacher Hof. But little Annika was still missing."

Bumping up for Annika. This article, in English, mentions her case, along with some other missing German children. Warning: mention of horrific abuse.

I really hope some of these cases will still be solved.
