http://www.phojoe.com/contact.html
Thanx for finding this site! I hope it can help Heidi (and others).

On the upper left of the main screen, it has the links to Twitter and Facebook, and says "1 free service for each new follower".

I thought the section for adopted people was also amazing...what their parents may look like.

heidi,

i just spoke with a man named "emy" at phojoe.com... he is expecting you to contact him via email or phone... you can just use the order form below if you want... that way you don't have to worry about getting a call through.

he will honor the $99 sale price at any time if you decide to go forward with using his services - so there's no time crunch for the 28th. i explained your situation and he seemed very sympathetic :) ... just make sure he knows it's "heidi from germany" !!

here is all the info for what type of photos work best and he would like to have pictures of both you and dirk's father around the age dirk would be now if possible.

http://www.phojoe.com/order.html <---- order page

cassie-- the facebook and twitter ads were a bit misleading... he said that was more for restorations especially since the age progression was already on sale. nice try though!!

i told emy if he did a good job for heidi that we might be able to promote him somehow on websleuths.com.. of course, we'll have to ask tricia about it but i'm sure we can get him more business if you are satisfied and happy with the work. he does guarantee satisfaction though :)

You may check with the INTERNATIONAL Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

NCMEC is only for US cases, but ICMEC has cases from around the world. Although I'm not sure if they do age-progressions. Ben Needham, missing from Greece, does have an age-progression done though, so they must under some circumstances. http://www.icmec.org/missingkids/se...ng=en_US&orgPrefix=ICMC&caseNum=1005&seqNum=1

There are 6 children listed with Germany. I'm very unfamiliar with anything about ICMEC except it's existence, so I don't know how to go about contacting them or getting anyone listed. But the website is www.icmec.org

reply from ICMEC

Dear Heidi Stein,

We have reached out to Initiative Vermisste Kinder as they are actually responsible of uploading German missing children cases to our website. However, they explained that your case is not currently being investigated by the police. Is this correct? One of our requirements to enter a child into our system is that it is an active case with a police department.

This is also the requirement for an age progression request. However looking online I can see there is an age progressed photo of your son.

Kind regards,
xxxxxxxxx

Dear Heidi.

I am so sorry. Such a pretty baby. My heart is broken for you. But Dirk is almost certainly alive, and you have no reason to think otherwise.

"Dirk Schiller is a missing child. He was taken on March 10th 1979 in a field by a parking lot. He was just 3 years old. He comes from Germany but could be living an another country, maybe the UK, under a false identity. He is 35 years old now and we have no proof of his appearance, only computer generated pictures".

Hi Heidi. I have read your story and it just breaks my heart. Such a sad and to me strange story. If you found out the man in Chili was your son would the knowledge be enough for you? Meaning if you were able to get the DNA and had a positive answer that Roberto is in fact Dirk would you be able to accept that for whatever reasons this man is not interested in having relationship with you at this time? It would be a very hard thing to do. I spent some time thinking about what I would do in your shoes. When I looked at the photos of Roberto I noticed he is a smoker. If I were in your place I would hire a private investigator in Chili to follow Roberto for a day and wait for him to leave a cigarette butt. Have it sent to you then get your DNA test. Its not the most honest way and I am not certain of the laws in chili. Here in the states once something is thrown out it becomes fair game. This would likely get you an answer. However it would not change things with Roberto. If he finds out him sure he would be upset again not knowing the laws there could be legal issues. So the question is would getting an answer be enough to bring you some peace? And once you had an answer could you leave the ball in his court and wait to see if he comes around with time? If you are interested I will research the laws. I hope this isn't breaking any rules here I am new here and don't want to offend anyone or break any rules.

last week i read about a man who was kidnapped by his mother 34 years ago and due to unfortunate events was placed for adoption after becoming a ward of the state (police never put two and two together when there was a father looking for his missing son-- oy!!)... he ultimately saw his picture online and became in contract with his bio sister. in the article i read in people magazine (with brad and angelina's engagement news on the cover) he mentions not meeting his father yet b/c he needs to take the process slowly (to not be overwhelmed i would imagine)... so there are two things to be gleaned from his case:

1) you can find your child/family after 30+ years
2) the missing child may need to do it on his/her own time and if it doesn't happen as quickly as the bio parent wants, it's nothing against them... the child is dealing with something totally unexpected and unknown... steven calls it all "terrifying" !

steven's story:

I've just read through this whole thread and it absolutely breaks my heart,I cannot imagine what you are going through.
While I'm not an expert in sleuthing I will have a look around to see if anything may catch my attention.

I just want you to know that you and Dirk are in my thoughts.Sending love and prayers

I'm amazed this story hasn't been made into a movie to be honest.

You should approach someone to get a script produced. Nothing catches people's attention like a missing child, combined with the usual distrust of East Germany/Russia etc.

Not to mention that it would get people researching the case.

Worth considering.

Ms. Stein, I had never heard about your son's case. It is Kafkaesque what the authorities did to your family. I don't understand it at all! It is evil and horrible, what happened to you.

But, I want to tell you that you are the epitome of what it means to be a mother! You are a true mother! All these years later, and you continue, relentlessly, to try to find your precious son. He is very lucky to have been born to you.

Roberto Yáñez Betancourt y Honecker was born 1974/5. Dirk vanished in 1979.
So how could Roberto be Dirk?

It is not clear that this grandson ever appeared in the public consciousness before age 3 or 4 or so, despite the fact that his was a very famous family. There are no baby pictures of him that have surfaced publicly, only older photos. So, they could have simply stated suddenly, that they had a grandson, who was born a few years before. As this was the very secretive family of a communist dictatorships' leader, it is more than possible.

Another question, perhaps I've just missed this: Are there photos of Sonja and her husband's other children around? Would be interesting to compare them to this gentleman.

I did see a photo somewhere in a slideshow of the Honecker family, of a baby that appears to be Sonja's daughter/Roberto's sister. I believe she bears a striking resemblance to Roberto Yanez.

hello and thanks for your interest, try follow links:

Heidi,Dirks mom

I must say that Roberto Yanez, in my opinion, looks very, very much like Sonja. I think their faces are almost identical.

here´s a new video a chilean reporter made about my missing son Dirk and that possible match Roberto Y. from Chile:

Dirck Schiller: La historia de un secuestro de hace 33 años PODRÍA ESTAR EN CHILE! - YouTube

It is a very good thing that this is being publicized in Spanish. But I believe that, while your son and the young pictures of Roberto are very, very similar (they could be brothers or twins), I do think Roberto looks very much like he could be Sonja's son, even Margot's grandson.

Many little boys had a similar appearance to Dirk. My own brother resembled him tremendously. But my brother (Mick) was born in 1965. Unfortunately, that makes it harder to pinpoint who Dirk may be living as, now.

This is an incredibly beautiful video. Whoever made it put a tremendous amount of work into it. Excellent!

Here's what I would do. I would create a facebook page for Dirk in Spanish, Russian, Polish and Dutch. There is already one in German and English).

I would also translate the lengthy UK article about Dirk's case (the one with the blue background), into Russian, Polish, Spanish and Dutch and post it on the various facebook pages. Then, each separate facebook page should hit "like" on missing children facebook pages in countries that speak the same language. That will get your pages noticed.

Finally, I would make Spanish, Russian, Polish, German and Dutch youtube versions of the very moving youtube video Dotr posted, and link to those videos on the various facebook pages.

I see tons of people from every country on youtube but they tend to view mostly videos in their own language. I see lots of Russians on there. If Dirk was taken to Russia, it is paramount that social media cites in the Russian language are utilized. That goes for Dutch and Spanish, etc., as well.

In this day and age, posting on-line flyers is not enough. Even websites are not viewed so much anymore. Facebook and youtube are the way to go, in my opinion.

Ms. Stein, I know you will never give up. I can imagine that it must be very hard, if not impossible, not to despair. But, your little boy was taken somewhere, alive. There is no reason that you cannot find the truth one day. I believe you will find him. He is out there and you have never given up. You will find him.

Hi
I understand what you are saying. However my son is adopted and from day one when he was just two days old everyone has said how much he looks like me. Last year he won a father son look alike contest. He entered with my dad. They look exactly a like and he also could easily be confused for my brothers when they were little. If you look at both my children you would never say he was adopted you would choose my daughter and she is my bio child. Im just saying looking a like may not mean as much as you think.
