Mord an Fabian: Polizei beschlagnahmt Pick-up der Ex von Vater

Reimershagen – The copper-coloured pick-up truck stands on a tow truck. It is now being taken for forensic examination – will this car finally solve the murder of little Fabian (aged 8)?

The car on the tow truck belongs to the ex-girlfriend of Fabian's father. Since early Thursday morning, the police have been searching her house in Reimershagen (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania) in her presence, as well as two others, one of which is in the neighbourhood. Reporters on site report that investigators also took sports shoes in plastic bags as evidence.

Colour me completely unsurprised. Her 'finding' him was deeply suspicious, and a classic behaviour of someone who has done the crime. You only have to watch an afternoon of true crime to realise how often killers do this, and obviously think it's the cleverest thing to cover up any traces of themself on the victim, whereas to cops, it's a thing they are looking out for. 'First witness, first suspect' gets bantered around for a reason.

She definitely inserted herself into the investigation. I want to highlight her interview again, shortly after "finding" Fabian's body

"Fabian was like my own child. I was practically his foster mother for 4 years."
"I don't understand why I'm the focus of attention now. I handed my mobile phone over to the police, my car was examined, I did everything voluntarily and cooperated."

I have to say, that "Ziehmama" quote rubbed me the wrong way from the start. Fabian had a mother!

Fabian case: Suspect must be taken into custody

Status: 07.11.2025 12:01 PM
A woman was arrested on Thursday. She is suspected of killing eight-year-old Fabian from Güstrow. After she has been presented to the detention judge, she must be taken into custody.

In the case of the murdered Fabian from Güstrow, the suspect woman was brought before a detention judge of the Rostock District Court. According to prosecutor Sebastian Polster, she did not comment on the allegations. Now she has to be in custody.

The arrest warrant had already been issued yesterday "because of the urgent suspicion of murder", as Chief Public Prosecutor Harald Nowack announced. Even after an arrest, suspects must be brought before a detention judge the day after the arrest, but no later than 48 hours later.

No further information on the suspect

The Rostock Chief Prosecutor did not provide more detailed information about the suspect, who was arrested on Thursday. "We are there in a relatively small-town or village environment. Anything I would say would allow this person to be identified," Nowack said. The reason for the reluctance is that the person continues to be considered innocent, "until a court has decided". The investigation has not yet been completed.

Police confiscated three cars

Since early Thursday morning, about 120 emergency services had searched objects in Reimershagen, about 20 kilometers south of Güstrow, and an object in neighboring Rum Kogel. "The searches were also carried out to verify previous witness statements," Nojack said in the NDR interview.

Investigators confiscated three cars as well as a pair of sneakers and other items. The objects have been brought for criminal investigation. Nowack did not confirm that Fabian was in one of the confiscated cars.

Mayor: "I am speechless"

Jens Kupfer, mayor of the municipality of Reimershagen, told the NDR that he hoped that the case would be quickly clarified. "I'm still speechless. It is incomprehensible how someone can do such a thing and that this act is so close to you. I'm really sorry. And I think of the people here in the community and the family," Kupfer continued.

It's a German tabloid of worst sort. Think Daily Mail but in German.
Daily Mail to me seems a lot less primitive. 😌

The latest in my local paper: Kriminalität: Fall Fabian - Neue Spur durch verkohlten Handschuh?

New piece of possible evidence in the form of a partially burnt glove. Found by a woman out for a walk near where Fabian's body was found and handed over to RTL (German tv channel, reputable media), who handed it on to the police.

A reporter from that super reliable newspaper (s/ MOO) called Bild found a white zipper in the grass very close to where Fabian's body was found. Apparently it was from an investigators suit (presumably one of those full-body white suits that are worn to prevent contamination).

There is a bit of questioning about why the tape etc from round the area where Fabian's body was found was removed the very next day. People came and trampled round the pond and the area was blocked off again the day after.

Short summary by me. Apparently you'll get a Google translation into your local language on opening the link.

Slightly strange that the woman out for a walk handed the evidence to media rather than the police, IMO. Tho she probably had her reasons, probably not nefarious.

The zipper (also called slider) is the movable part of a zipper.

She is a mother herself and is known as a horse enthusiast. Read the full report from Reimershagen here.

Now it has come to light: The murder suspect came under police scrutiny in 2022. As reported by "Bild," she allegedly stole a saddle from a riding stable. It was an expensive saddle with accessories worth 4,000 euros. The owner of the saddle, whom "Bild" spoke to, noticed the missing riding equipment. She asked Gina about it, who reacted angrily and denied any involvement. However, a short time later, the owner discovered the saddle on an online marketplace. The picture also showed a friend of Gina's. A search warrant was executed at the suspect's residence, where, according to "Bild," the saddle was indeed found. Since the suspect had no prior criminal record, she was required to return the saddle and replace any accessories she had already sold as part of the legal proceedings against her.

Fall Fabian: Anwältin der Mutter rechnet mit Anklage gegen Ex-Freundin des Vaters

with video in German.

The alleged suspect in tha case of Fabian is the ex-partner of Fabian's father. This has now been confirmed by the mother's lawyer, Christine Habetha, in an interview with NDR, citing the public prosecutor's office. The public prosecutor's office has not yet commented on the details.

The mother had suspected early on that Fabian's father's ex-girlfriend was involved in the crime, Christine Habetha told NDR. ‘This suspicion existed not only in the village, but also with my client in Güstrow – particularly once the body was found,’ said the victim’s lawyer. According to media reports, it was the ex-partner who claimed to have discovered the murdered boy a month ago near Klein Upahl, in a place where people do not usually go for walks.

Habetha represents Fabian's mother. According to the lawyer, the mother finds herself in a ‘situation between horror, disappointment, but also relief that a suspected perpetrator is in custody’. Based on the information available, Habetha expects that it will not be long before the public prosecutor's office brings charges.

There is strong suspicion of guilt, Habetha continues. This is based on facts that were verifiable and legally sound at the time of the arrest.
The lawyer wants to ensure that her client receives a proper conviction. Such a conviction will not bring the child back, but the mother needs clarity about the circumstances in which her child died.

The authorities are continuing their investigation. According to lawyer Habetha, a glove that was handed over to the police is clearly not relevant to the case. The arrested woman has not yet commented on the allegations. The accused was arrested last Thursday and brought before the magistrate on Friday. Until her guilt has been established by a court, she is presumed innocent. The suspect's legal representative did not want to comment on the case in a video interview at this stage, but has indicated that such an interview may take place in the future.

Monday, November 10, 12:30 p.m.: Fabian's mother's lawyer, Christine Habetha, spoke further to RTL about her client's current emotional state. According to her, it wasn't a real shock when it came out that the suspect, Gina H., had been arrested. Fabian's mother already had a suspicion "when it became clear who had found the murdered child and, above all, where and under what circumstances." Only the long period between the discovery of the body and the arrest surprised the mother, the lawyer told RTL.

Wednesday, November 12, 8:50 a.m.: The suspect, who had a relationship with Fabian's father for several years, continues to remain silent regarding the accusations. According to a report in the "Ostsee-Zeitung," the woman came under investigation during the search for Fabian.

"The suspect came into focus because she made contradictory statements," says Senior Public Prosecutor Harald Nowack. Investigators have also gathered a "whole range" of circumstantial evidence. "The current findings justify the suspicion of murder," Nowack emphasizes. However, the senior public prosecutor does not reveal what this evidence is exactly. Police have also not yet found a murder weapon.

The police now know what the murder weapon is but it has not been publicizied.

"According to Chief Public Prosecutor Nowack, the weapon used in the crime is known. However, for investigative reasons, no further information will be released."

So what would the accused's interest be in killing Fabian? And how did she potentially get access to him on that fateful day? What caused Fabian to leave his mother's house and end up dead in Klein Upahl? Did the ex entice him to head to his father's village? Did she offer to drive him?

I have so many questions.

She has a son, who often played with Fabian.

Unless there's some deeper pathology going on, it could be as simple as doing it to hurt her ex.

Mordfall Fabian: Neue Zeugen melden sich – mit einem entscheidenden Hinweis?

One day after renewing their appeal for witnesses in the case of Fabian from Güstrow, south of Rostock, investigators have received new tips from the public. The officials in charge are now following up on these reports, a spokesperson for the Rostock public prosecutor's office told the German Press Agency. It is currently unclear whether the information will lead to new findings.

On Thursday, the public prosecutor's office and the police asked for information about a woman's vehicle. She was arrested on 6 November on suspicion of murder in a village near Güstrow.

She is believed to be the ex-girlfriend of Fabian's father. This was recently confirmed by Fabian's mother's lawyer, quoting the public prosecutor's office. Rostock's chief public prosecutor Harald Nowack and Andreas Ohm, the suspect's defence lawyer, have not yet confirmed this. Officially, there is no information about the woman at this stage.

Her car has been seized. ‘It is an orange Ford Ranger,’ the investigating authorities said. They are looking for possible witnesses who saw the vehicle in Güstrow or the surrounding area on 10 October.

Even two weeks after Gina H.'s arrest, peace has barely returned to her hometown. Several residents have noticed something striking: since Gina H.'s detention, it is Fabian's father who has been caring for her horses. Among them is her mare Cleo, with whom Gina H. competed in show jumping tournaments. The horses are kept in a pasture near her house. Fabian's father is there several times a day, tending to the animals, reports the Nordkurier newspaper. But why is he doing this when Gina H. is under strong suspicion of having killed his son?
