Er wollte zu Fuß von München nach Venedig: 32-Jähriger seit Tagen spurlos verschwunden
He wanted to walk from Munich to Venice:
A 32-year-old Canadian has been missing near Bad Tölz for a several days now.
Bad Tölz - A 32-year-old Canadian has been missing for several days. The man was on foot on the way from Munich to Venice, his trail is lost in southern Bavaria. Under the direction of the Bad Tölz Police Inspectorate, large-scale searches are taking place there.
On August 8, 2018, Jeffrey David Freiheit's wife told the police inspectorate in Schwaz (Tyrol) by telephone late in the evening that she no longer had contact with her husband. Allegedly he was last seen at Karwendelhaus (Tyrol).
The Austrian police ultimately clarified that the man probably did not arrive in Tyrol. It was determined that he was last on the road in the Bad Tölz police area. The wife had meanwhile called in various forums in the Internet for assistance with the search for her husband. She has now flown to Germany to support the search.
On Monday, the search measures were concentrated on the Jachenau Vorderriß area. The Gasthaus Post in Vorderriß should be his destination on August 3rd. However, according to current knowledge, he did not arrive there.
In addition to the mountain rescue service, police helicopters and officials from the Alpine Intervention Group (AEG) were deployed. The mountain rescue services of Lenggries, Benediktbeuern, Kochel and Penzberg are among those involved. Mountain rescue and avalanche dogs were also deployed.
Unfortunately, the search for missing Canadians remained unsuccessful on Monday. Two pieces of clothing have been found so far. The police will investigate the missing person's T-shirt and jacket. [ It is already known that these do not belong to JF.]
The Lenggries mountain rescue service will not give up: Thanks to Penzberg's special task force technology, it has the ability to evaluate the GPS trackers that each search party carried with it. The data is placed on a map to find any gaps that have not yet been searched.

Description of Stage 3 / Etappe 3:
Von Bad Tölz zur Benediktenwand - München - Venedig: Wandern auf dem Traumpfad über die Alpen.
From Bad Tölz to Benediktenwand
This stage takes you from the diverse meadow landscape of the Isar into the mountains.
From Arzbach you have two routes to choose from: the first takes you through the Arzbachtal via alpine farms and green pastures to the Benediktenwand and Tutzinger Hütte (1327 metres). From the Tiefentalalm, which is about 1250 meters high, you have a beautiful panoramic view.
For the second variant via the Brauneck you must be steady and free from giddiness. Walk on along the Isar river to Lenggries and from there take the Brauneck mountain railway to Brauneckhaus at an altitude of 800 metres. On this tour you can climb two peaks at once: Brauneck and Benediktenwand peaks tempt you to experience the first heights.
In good weather, however, you must share the impressive views over the foothills of the Alps and up to the glacier regions with many others: Brauneck-Bergbahn and Benediktenwand are popular excursion destinations.
JF took the second variant., the one for which you have to be steady and free of giddiness. He was seen on August 2 in Lenggries where he took money from an ATM, and he was at the Brauneck Mountain Station. See his video on Instagram. The climb took him 1 hr and 10 minutes instead of the predicted 2 hours. IMHO he looks red and tired in that video. If I had emptied that vase of beer (second picture), I would have fallen asleep for at least two hours. But that is me, I am totally prejudiced.
