"CNN)A teenager who has been missing for two and half years has been found alive in a closet of a child suspect in west Germany, police said.
The 15-year old boy was found on Friday during a police search in Recklinghausen, in the German state on North Rhine-Westphalia.
Police were searching a home of a 44-year old man suspected of distributing child , when they stumbled on the boy. "The officers discovered a boy in the closet. An investigation showed this was a 15-year old boy who has been missing for a long time," the Recklinghausen police said in a statement.
A spokesman for the police told CNN the boy had been missing for two and half years.
According to the police, there was no indication that the boy was held in the apartment against his will. The boy remains under police protection and has not been identified for legal reasons"

According to an Aktenzeichen XY episode ( German crime show with reenactments to solve cases ) he never got over the death of his father which led to severe mental health issues and multiple stays in youth care homes . During one of those stays he suddenly had more money than he should have and then vanished without a trace . Until now . To me it reads like a case of grooming of an already vulnerable teenager .

Marvin's father died when he was 6 , the father mentioned in some reports is the father of the guy Marvin was found with .

I looked at photo's on his Missing FB page and, except for the glasses, I think he resembles the boy in the third picture standing on the rightof this website.

I agree. That's why LE said there was no indication he was held against his will. I take that to mean he wasn't locked away or tied up or similar.

My guess is the arrested man told Marvin to hide in the closet when police turned up? Possibly did that every time there was a knock on the door. Moo.
