Gilgo Beach LISK Serial Killer, Rex Heuermann, charged with 3 murders, July 2023 #3

“Since Rex Heuermann is a serial sexual sadist, he was not satisfied by killing, and likely torturing, his victims,” Dr. Carole Lieberman told Newsweek of the architect, 59, who pleaded not guilty last week to multiple murder charges in connection with the deaths of three women over a decade ago.

“He needed to taunt their families with calls to gloat about having killed their loved ones, in order to inflict pain on
them, as well.”

“Is this Melissa’s little sister?” an anonymous male voice asked the victim’s then-16-year-old sister, Amanda, during one phone call.

“Do you know what your sister is doing? She’s a *advertiser censored*.”

“[He said that] he killed her; he raped her,” Amanda recalled of the eerie exchange in an interview with PIX11 News in 2020.

Wow, I posted more or less the same ideas in an earlier JMO post here somewhere.

Without benefit of doctorate.

Not dissing Dr. Lieberman at all, just pleased that I'm getting wiser as I get older (and feed my addiction to true crime daily, that might have something to do with it).

One thing might be to protect assets so that everything doesn't get used on his defense costs.
The thing that I was concerned about is the back taxes. If he owes so much in back taxes (even if she is not aware) and they filed jointly each year, isn't she responsible for paying those taxes, too?

Plus, if he is found guilty and she has any assets, the families of the victims will surely file a lawsuit for damages. I wouldn't think that a divorce would protect the assets, but I don't know.

All I know is that it has to be a nightmare for his family. They are victims, too.

JMO.

I certainly hope the new task force did or will revisit Johnny Terry and we will finally know whether the killer called him over 30 times or not. The details of the calls from Melissa's phone and those burner phones would certainly show if these calls occurred and the phone's location at the time of the calls, if they really happened.

The way this case was originally handled is disgusting. Did SCPD ever follow up on the client's description and the Avalanche lead from DS and did they really go to the home, in LI, where Johnny Terry said he would drop Melissa? Why did they never inform the public about the pattern on the burlap being Camo, or give a general description of the Avalanche and the man driving the Avalanche. Is it possible that Burke didn't want the public's help? Perhaps, he knew the suspect because they ran in the same circles?

This post lands at random.

The Report feature is for violations of Websleuths TOS.

Please don't send Reports because you don't like what another member has said or because you disagree with them, or if it's "misinformation", or just because you want us to know how you feel about the case. These are not Reportable violations of TOS.

As for "misinformation" regarding specifics, that is something that can be respectfully worked out through discussion on the thread. WS staff have thousands of threads and don't necessarily know all the fine details of every single case and we don't have time to be searching for what is or is not 100% accurate.

Thank you.

"The strategy was to catch him by his workplace and take that long ride from 35th and 5th out to 30 Yaphank which could be a 1.5-hour ride and see if he could talk and give up anything about his role in this investigation," Harrison continued."

"As soon as we informed him he’d be placed under arrest, we put him inside the vehicle, read him his Miranda rights. He asked for a lawyer and that was the end of the conversation," Harrison said."

"The case was in the grand jury and could there be a possible leak. That, with a combination of him being a violent human being, and the sooner, the better we could get him off the streets, the safer we could make Suffolk County," Harrison said.

:oops::eek:

I hope the cops are going to run dogs through the Massapequa preserve which us heavily wooded and .5 miles from the monsters dwelling.

that level of hatred and malice must have been difficult to conceal from his family or anybody.
he seemed to be reliving the thrill and doubling down..
I'm not sure it was sexual, he had after all researched the relatives of the victims..
I think it was sheer evil, whatever that means.

It's a recording of an interview with a Long island resident.

''Attorneys for alleged Gilgo Beach murders suspect Rex Heuermann have insisted on their client’s innocence.

Criminal defence attorney Michael J Brown described 59-year-old Mr Heuermann as a loving husband and devoted father and suggested that investigators are ignoring stronger leads in the probe into the deaths of slain sex workers Melissa Barthelemy, Amber Costello and Megan Waterman.

“There is nothing about Mr Heuermann that would suggest that he is involved in these incidents,” Mr Brown said in a statement to New 12.

“And while the government has decided to focus on him despite more significant and stronger leads, we are looking forward to defending him in a court of law before a fair and impartial jury of his peers.”

The Tinder Profile was set up in the name “Andy” (Heuermann’s middle name is Andrew), with links to a burner cellphone which was subscribed in the fictitious name of “Andrew Roberts,” using an email account, [email protected]. The [email protected] account was established with AOL on January 15, 2011, in the fictitious name “John Springfield” with an Astoria, Queens, New York zip code, using another burner cellphone.
-.-.-
What if in 2011, when RH set up the AOL account, he had already 9 victims, therefore the number 9 added to the username "Springfieldman"? Because he seems to be proud of his crimes, it would make sense to me, if he added the number of victims. Nobody would have known, but him. What a thrill.

The name Springfield is eye-catching. It is one of common toponyms in US. See map in Wikipedia. Nonetheless, knowing how the names are often created, it would be interesting to know if he ever lived next to/traveled to/went to school to next to one of Springfields.

I think it's pretty normal to believe that, but attractive people use sex workers as well, for as many reasons as there are people. Busy life, unsatisfying relationship, socially awkward, or even just an unfulfilled fantasy.

All of the above, plus concerns about sexual performance, IMHO.

There's a Springfield in Oregon + Massachusetts.

A Springfield in NY, SC, and in three of the states bordering NV.
Site of abduction for any victims nearest the time he established that name?
Known or unknown missing people?
he used the number 9 and some media speculated it was a victim count when he used it..
his mind is dark..
he thinks like maybe scores? Speculating
worth a search?

I'd guess hubris, egos, and politics played a roll in this.

Same as how many other cases we've seen, Delphi, IN, murders come to mind.
