Yes, it sure seems like she's backing him.
Just his disgusting computer searches would be horrible enough not to ever have contact with him again.

So Rex is due back in court tomorrow. What will we learn about at this hearing? More discovery?
Let’s hope so.

Asa Ellerup, the estranged wife of alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex A. Heuermann, will attend his court appearance for the first time Wednesday, her attorney told Newsday.

Bob Macedonio said his client, who filed for divorce from Heuermann in July, intends to be present for the criminal case moving forward. She will be accompanied by her attorney ans his associate and will not make any public statements, Macedonio said.

“She wants to see and hear the evidence that's presented in court,” Macedonio said. “The only thing she knows about this case is what’s been reported in the media … If this happened, he was living a complete double life.”

Heuermann, 60, of Massapequa Park, is expected to make a brief appearance before State Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Court officials said a conference will be held with attorneys in the judge’s chambers and no hearings will be held.

Mazzei is also expected to rule on pending requests from various media outlets to record the proceedings, court spokesperson Timothy Finnerty said.

Oh, that's an interesting thought. What would he be using her for though? And then there's the streaming crew arriving to film something. She must be saying something -- with the implication being for money. The attorney is well aware of that taking place, so it seems he's not against her saying something under the right condition$. MOO.

Edited to add: I think it would have went a long way to hear her condemn the actions of the LISK and offer sympathy toward the murdered women, regardless of whether she thinks her man is involved. MOO.
Using her to get information on Rex's defense, to pull every manipulation possible to keep her from testifying against Rex, to move assets from Rex's victims and to Rex's family, and ultimately Rex himself, even if it only buys a slightly more comfortable incarceration.

Macedonio has already made it clear, to Rex's significant advantage, that Asa has no interest in being a cooperative witness.

Macedonio has not done or advised what you suggested (and with which I very much agree), which is to express sympathy for the survivors of the murder victims. it would help her. But if Macedonio is whipping her into fear of her own legal danger in doing so, that seems to me to harm Asa and help Rex, because her potent contribution to humanizing the victims is averted.

Macedonio spent a lot of time damaging the reputation of LE by holding up Asa as their victim, helping Rex and IMO harming Asa by holding her inconveniences out in front of children who had to grow up without mothers.

Macedonio repeated on Asa's behalf that she would have nothin useful to say to the police, which helps Rex with this logic: The house is small, he couldn't hide all that from her, but she has nothing useful to say, so it can't be him.

(Yet, he has warned her against self incrimination, which sounds like a contradiction; if she knows enough to be complicit herself, she has useful information)

Macedonio had the house photographed, in theory to document what is common practice in evidence search, for some dead-end lawsuit against LE. ( And am I right that the names LE is the FBI? The meddlers who locked up Spota &co.?) But perhaps he has some tricks to get them to Rex, so he can try to evaluate if certain hiding places have been discovered. This is just a theory of mine.

Macedonio got his license back after serious money laundering and bribing charges. It's hard to trust him. But his background ignored, his actions just don't seem to benefit Asa, but do have potential to benefit Rex.

MOO

In a similar vein, there are many parents whose kids are using drugs at home and parents say they didn’t know — it’s called denial. I’m not judging and I’m not sleuthing a potential victim. It’s human nature to not want to see situations that are painful, frightening, or overwhelming. It can be difficult to take action, especially if there is intimidation. OMO.

Obviously, I have no idea if there is a level of involvement here and don’t know if denial is a factor. Just musing.

Gilgo Beach murder suspect Rex Heuermann has signed over his run-down family home, worth $530,000, to his soon-to-be ex-wife for $0.

Many times when a spouse is charged with a serious crime, the defendant signs over their property to a spouse or partners to protect their assets. The money, etc, stays in the family- so to speak and is protected from seizure. It happens far too often. That may be the case, here.

I hope there are many family members of the victims there. I hope they're feeling some relief that justice is on its way. Questions will be answered. Bless them.

Asa is to star in a doco !
Dear oh dear !

My only wishes are for complete Justice, & that DNA science doesn't lie. Neither does telephone triangulation !

IMO this is going to turn into a tv circus.

Don't forget eyewitness testimony from Amber Costello's friend, who gave a description of Rex H and his Chevy Avalanche to police 12 years ago.

Gilgo Beach suspect Rex Heuermann’s wife sparked a three-ring media circus when she showed up at one of his court appearances for the first time Wednesday — and she was spotted smiling and laughing during the hearing related to the killings of at least three young women.

Heuermann’s attorney, Michael Brown, says he is appreciative that Ellerup attended since they were married for so many years and raised a family together.

Brown said, “To my knowledge, she does not believe he was capable or committed those acts, so he appreciates the support.”

Rex H is due back in court on Feb 6. State handed over lab reports and over 13,000 photos.

I don't think these people are capable of having normal human emotions. They both seem very narcissistic.

The defense attorney for alleged Gilgo Beach killer Rex A. Heuermann said Wednesday that another suspect in the 13-year-old case was nearly arrested under the previous district attorney and that prosecutors have not yet turned over to detectives notes that could be helpful to the defense.
Defense attorney Michael J. Brown of Central Islip said those notes would have the names of other suspects in the multiple homicide investigation.

“It's important for us to defend my client to get all the investigation notes from all the detectives and police officers involved in this case,” Brown told State Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei during Heuermann’s brief appearance in court Wednesday. “We're looking forward to getting that in an expeditious manner because we're at four or five months already. That's very important for us to go forward with the trial.”

Speaking with the media outside of the courthouse, Brown said former Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini “wanted somebody arrested" for this crime. Brown didn't identify the potential suspect.

District Attorney Ray Tierney said the grand jury investigation into the Gilgo Four is expected to end "very shortly" as he addressed the media following the appearance.

The special grand jury, which began on June 15, is still hearing evidence against Heuermann in the killing of potential fourth victim Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Tierney said. Tierney said the grand jury minutes that have not yet been turned over are related to the ongoing investigation.

Judge Mazzei at one point interrupted Santomartino, expressing surprise when the prosecutor said the newly turned over evidence includes 13,000 photographs taken during the execution of search warrants at Heuermann's home, office and storage units he rented.

Hmm. So this, to me, rules out one of my theories on an accomplice--John Bitrolff, a contractor from Manorville (my Manorville connection), who was already in prison for the murders of Rita Tangredi and Colleen McNamee.

I hope she donates the money to the victims’ families.
Yeah, that would be nice, but tbh, she has a disabled son to take care of without an income. Someday she will be gone and he will still need to be provided for. My hunch is any money she makes goes to that.
